Bad starter at 58k miles??? (2010 Limited)

Soooo, I go to start my truck this afternoon and for a split second it sounded normal, followed by clickclickclickclick until I hit the button again to stop it. Rinse an repeat a few times, same exact thing each time...

Has anyone else had a starter go bad at only 58,000 miles? My truck is stock, no mods that could affect anything related.

Check battery first and that the connections aren't corroded or loose......that's the sound the starter makes when it doesn't have enough voltage to turn it over.

yep just had the same thing happen at 50k.... battery was the culprit

Thanks for the quick replies gentlemen! I'll go see if cleaning the connections helps and whether my battery pack (jumpstarter) can help get it running.

Ok, as usual you guys were spot on! I have a Duracell 600hd that started her right up! I guess I'll drive around some to hopefully give it some juice, though can anyone recommend the best battery (hopefully from Costco! Lol) to replace the original with? I'm in VT a lot in winter so cold cranking is imperative...

Costco (Kirkland) batteries are actually Interstate batteries which are pretty good IMO.
It's all I've run in my boat for 15 years.

Glad it's just the battery. Die Hard Platinum from Sears. It is the same as an odyssey battery but with a different case.
I would stay away from the Optima red tops. I have read and heard A LOT of quality issues with them the last few years.
