Battery - 24F or 34R? DieHards on Sale!

Dealer says my battery failed CCA test, so I need to check the level, but I was looking at replacement batteries. Sears has DieHards on sale, but their online selection shows different sizes...

Looks like the 4Runner comes with a 24F? The Sears website showed a size EP-34R DieHard Gold AGM for not too much $... I called a local Sears, and the guy who answered was not too helpful on sizing ("just bring it in").

So, can I just install the AGM 34R without mods? I did some searches on batteries & sizes here, did not succeed.

And, fyi, like the subject line, Sears DieHards are on sale this week.

I just put a 27F in mine. I went with X2Power AGM. It's spendy, but it won't Die Hard..

I'm sure you can tell I've had bad experiences with Die Hards.. :flamethrwoer2:

And I could not see any size info on the Panasonic battery while installed. Just a part number that Google search did not find.

Previously I had a 99 two door Tahoe, and it was easy to figure out the stock battery size, I think it was a 78. The Sears website showed several sizes, so I searched here, and did not find a clear answer on the battery size, mostly lots of discussion of battery *brands* or mfrs.

When I'm car battery shopping, I look around for the best price on a battery after coupons and what not, and then go with whichever one is the cheapest and is made by Johnson Controls.

Also, make sure you go with a battery that has a decent replacement warranty. My dad had an Interstate battery (from Johnson controls) that went bad after six months of not-hard usage due to one of the cells testing bad. He got it replaced free of charge by an interstate battery seller.

I also have two lithium ion power packs that can jump start a car. I've never had to utilize them on my own car, but I was able to use one of my lithium portable jump starters on a suburban. So, they do work and the price of them are generally $40-$100 and cheap insurance. Yes, I have roadside assistance through my insurer, but I'd rather not call for a jump start.

Ok, first off I see both sides but am going to post a "what if...?"

What if every OP that is presumably new to the site got slammed by the long-time contributors when they ventured out with their 25th post? Not that the long-time contributors didn't have a valid point to make. But still. Soon enough there won't be any more OPs with just a few posts.

Then the old guys can continue to talk among themselves I guess...

Just a point. I appreciate 1Engineer. He's got a ton of useful insight about multiple topics. Just asking if we ought consider that.
