bearing& hub assy - help me choose

still stocking up on likely to fail parts on my yet to be bought 4runner..
seriously i saw these units - hub and bearing assy on ebay ..but i need ur help in choosing the better one.the price difference is much, thats what is confusing me.most folks here bought the ebay unit the expensive unit..am wondering if anyone has tried the cheaper ebay unit?

I wouldn't go with either. Why are you replacing the hub? That is not a wearable part and unless damaged there is no reason at all to replace it. The problem with both of those and more so with the second is you have no idea what bearings you are getting and the bearing itself is what is important. You will come out better by buying new Timken or SKF bearings from rock auto for $70-90 and the seals from Toyota then taking them to a machine shop and spending another $20-40 to have them pressed in. In that case you are getting top quality bearings and spending $100-$150 per side. That works out to a lot less than the expensive hub/bearing set on ebay and a lot more peace of mind than going with that $60 unit.

Don't get me wrong, both of those are probably good, but for the price difference and what is at risk I wouldn't take the chance. It isn't like the risk you would be taking with cheap speakers or something like that. You have wheel bearing failure and you are talking about some serious damage potential.

agreed with sungod on this one. and why are you assuming your gonna buy a truck with bad wheel bearings? i would plan to purchase a vehicle that didnt have parts at there death point. I could understand having a brake caliper on stand by, CV axel shafts and or rebuild kits, maybe even new bushings to renew the factory ride. but hubs? I will say though just about every wheel hub assembly is ALMOST garuanteed to have timken bearings in them. manufacturers like timken just as much as the consumers do .
