Best place for ignition switched power

Where is the best place to find ignition switched power in the maplight area? I dont want 24/7 power. Trying to hardwire my gps and all the googling ive done brings up decades old diagrams.

I wired my light bar to the fuse box to the left of the steering column. Those fuses only power on when the ignition switch is turned to the "on" position, otherwise they get no power. I didn't want a constant draw from the battery which is why I just chose an empty slot there

First question you really want to answer is “What is the amp draw of the GPS unit?”

You could just use the map light circuit itself but I would make sure you don’t exceed the design limits of that circuit.

Map light circuits are generally always on, so you could just get a fuse tap off the accessory circuit which is ignition controlled and run the wiring up the pillar to where you want it.

sig lighter circuit is what I use in every Toyota my family own. never a problem.

But then again the maplight always has power. Meaning I'd have to manually turn the gps off and on every single time. That's what I'm trying to avoid. Looks like I'll just tap the fuse box and fish a wire up to the mirror.

I just installed a Auto dimming mirror with compass and tapped into the moonroof power by removing the map lights. Here is a thread with pictures:

So USB voltages... you can tap in with what I listed use a 12v to USB converter like those ones that go in a cig lighter but modified and then run a USB cable if that what the camera used.
