Best replacement antenna - good gain and reception?

Looking to replace my antenna on a 2013 4Runner. Any luck with short stubby antennas? Anything out there that get good reception even though they are small?

I recall reading many posts on this forum about stubby antennas, how to install them, etc. It runs in my mind that, while they look better and aren't in the way as much as the stock antenna, they don't receive as good of a signal. But I could be wrong.........the search function could be your friend on this subject.

Short replacements look good, but my long stock antenna kept me from hitting a low roof. I'm sticking with my "early warning system".

I bought some stubby antenna off of either Amazon or eBay, it sucked. I lost reception from distance radio stations.

Then I just took a Dremel to the original, about a half inch down from where the paint from the garage had marked it up. Works like champ now.

My daughters bedroom is right near the garage, letting it keep on hitting was not an option.

I swapped mine out for a stubby one and it has worked just fine. I suppose it all depends on where you live and how strong the signal is to begin with. I live just north of Seattle so its not like I am out in BFE.

I bought a cheap one from ebay and it works fine fore me. They even have a TRD logo on it.
