best sparkplug / wire set?

you can spend a fortune on spark plugs and wires it is up to you of course. I just did mine at 100K for the first time, and i went with OEM Toyota spark plugs which i bought from the dealer for a whopping $2.44 each, and the wire set was $50 and change. Ours is not a normal wire set, it's a coil over.
I saw TRD plugs for like $35 each which would be over $200 just for the plugs not even including a fancy wire set.
I thought about it and said, I got 100K out of these OE ones, how many more miles or better job could the expensive ones do.

I like the NGK wires (for the 3.4L). You can find a good deal on them at Amazon - Amazon.com: NGK TE66 Wire Set: Automotive

i just bought a pair of the ngk wires and they work great, but i did go with plugs from the dealership. denso plugs, and i couldnt be happier

just to clarify can you guys tell me what model number i need for the spark plugs? along with the wires? is it necessary to upgrade those though? cause isnt ours coil over wires? not the standard type?
also i was told from a friend that i should also look into changing the rotor in the cap?
im confused

No cap and rotor on our trucks (3rd gen 3.4s). NGK plug is #BKR5EKB-11. Denso plug is #K16TR11. Either is fine. Don't waste your $$ on anything else. There are tons of threads saying that everything but these 2 plugs are either a waste of $$, bad for your engine, or both.
TE66 wires are NGK's version of the OEM Denso wires and are perfectly fine. Use only these or Denso #671-6182.

John likes to preach for Bosch, but I'm just an OEM purist Toyota employee, what do I know? :nerd:

I just went to sparkplugs.com and cut and pasted the part #'s! I do recommend buying from them, good prices on most tune up stuff.
I won't use Bosch plugs ever again in my 3.4. Why? Because here's one of my old ones after 1 year/12K and all 6 were like this:
I've been running NGKs ever since (last 5 years or so) and never had any of them look like this even after running them for twice as long.

I saw a thread a while back on yotatech that explained it. IIRC it was because the 2 heads came from different factories. I'll try to find it again.

lol i think we all read that thread, that's the one i was referring to, what i was trying to find out was which head got what....
but from what your saying pikeman, it doesn't matter anymore since they are the same company now....or does it?

well I could get you spot-on accurate MPG ratings to the tenth of a mile using my gas cubby app, but I'd never put that sh!t in my truck:biggrin2:
