If it is based in any way on the Land Cruiser 300, Land Cruiser Prado 150 or Lexus GX then it may be 4 door only. I don't see them repeating the mistake of the FJ Cruiser suicide doors and all the complaints of rear seat access. Besides, you would think it would be a four door only to hit the 80% of the market that do not buy 2 door Jeep's, Bronco's or Land Rover Defender's.

A Bronco/Wrangler-sized LC sounds almost like a 70 series type. We could only dream that to be true. That would create quite a buzz within the Toyota enthusiast community here in the US.
The only concern is no way the current form of the 70 series would survive US safety and crash regulations.

I do believe [MENTION=166416]Carmaker1[/MENTION] said the new GX was going to resemble the 70 series and with the Prado and GX basically twins, you might not be far off with that thought.

TRDJon posted some rumours. People on reddit claiming to work for Toyota are saying 2.4 turbo /AWD in the LC with a price point slightly higher than the 4Runner aimed at $50,000-$60,000.
Perhaps a base LC priced a couple of thousand less than a TRD Pro going up to about $5,000 more than a Pro over 3 -4 trims?
It is sounding like the redesigned Prado is what we are getting. A dealer in Canada posted they revealed the new LC to dealers, didn't give a time frame but he said there was no talk of when the 6th gen 4R was coming out.

I'd be shocked if it was in that price range. I'm seeing Limited 4Runners at dealers with $53,000 stickers and TRD PRO variants are stickered at $56k. I'm guessing the redesign will show a significant increase, just like the Sequoia and Tundra did. Unless the base LC trim would inline with the Limited 4Runner pricing?
New 4Runner will likely be revealed in 2024, as it's currently set to start production in September 2024. I'm wondering if they'll announce it in July like they did for this generation.

I see the 4runner competing with the Grand Cherokee (non L version), Honda Passport, and Subaru Outback. I do believe there is still room for the 4runner if the new LC is a hardcore off-roader.
Maybe the 4Runner will be more of a US Fortuner than the current size (slightly smaller) and the LC will be slightly larger or vice versa.
Or the 4runner is taken to a lower optioned vehicle - although I really don't know how you can offer less options than what the 4Runner has and get a substantial enough number of people to buy it to justify it.

This isn't 4Runner related, but since we were talking about Grand Highlander and TX here's a link about the Grand Highlander from Toyota's pressroom. Looks like it says "HybridMAX" on the bottom left of the tailgate. It's a platinum trim as well.

This seems odd to me.
A 2.4 turbo / AWD would just be a 6th gen limited unless Toyota plans to kill that trim.
I still think the main way Toyota differentiates this new LC and the 6th gen 4Runner is a premium power train. A detuned V35.
Land Cruiser would go up against upper trim Wranglers and Broncos. The 4Runner right now has no answer for Rubicons and Badlands/Sasquatch trims nevermind 392s and Raptors.
As reference.. a fully loaded TRD Pro 4Runner is $54k. A base Rubicon with the 35" tire package is $55k and can quickly be optioned to $61k+. This is the market the Land Cruiser would excel at.
If Toyota is bold enough the Wrangler 392 and Bronco Raptor start at $84k and $73k respectively and the Raptor comes stock with 37" tires!!!

Makes sense, although it may be cutting too fine of a line to have the general public understand that one badge only goes up against the lower Wrangler/Bronco trims and the other badge only goes up against the upper trims.
However, I guess Toyota may be thinking that it is Jeep and Ford that are over-reaching with a single badge covering way too much ground with its 10 or whatever trim levels.

Its next to impossible to find a base GX here. A more realistic starting price is $60k for a Premium with the Plus package.

Truth. When I was considering the GX, I asked about the base model and the sales manager gave me a smile.
Don't forget the wood and leather steering wheel. That seems to be an "option" on every GX made. That adds another $450.
60k on a Niche SUV and we are splitting hairs on $450 - $1500???

It is more like 65-70k after taxes. Exhibit #1 for the defense as to why I went with the 4Runner instead of said niche vehicle.
