Best speculation of a 2023 6th generation I have seen

From the rear, accent the title "Speculatively Rendered".

It has a nice rear departure angle, but, the rear glass is all wrong, it will not be wraparound, I have it from a good source there is reason to be hopeful for the roll down rear window to carry over to the 6th gen.

Man, those headlights...and it looks like it has integrated running boards, not bolt on. That would be a mistake.

There's no way I will buy a mid-size SUV with a 4cylinder as the base of the hybrid. We have the Rav4 and, sure a PHEV will have a larger battery than our hybrid, but it's engine absolutely screams going up the passes here. B/c of this, all the Toy/Lex offerings are out, as is the JGC. Ok, I'll let us get back to complaining that there's not been a leak about the new T4R! :dizzy:

Agree with previous posters that the eCVT based 4cyl. drivetrain will not perform like the 2.4T / 8speed/hybrid drivetrain.

Toyota has said that the new Tacoma will climb an 8% highway grade without downshifting.

As someone who owns a RAV4 hybrid, a 10-speed 3.5TT F150, and just rented a TRD Pro 4Runner for a trip over the Rockies, I would love a newer drivetrain in the 4Runner. I really liked driving it, but man, that drivetrain had no low end grunt and was screaming on the highway when going uphill.

I was mostly discussing all the companies releasing Mid-Size PHEVs with NA 4cylinders. Like the Jeeps, the Lexus RX, and others.
Honestly at this point I'm just on this board out of curiosity at this point. I dont see us buying another Toy/Lex (we have two right now).

Any super secret squirrel sources that doesn't speak in vague riddles that tells use absolutely nothing? Either they know if it will have a roll down rear window or they don't.

Most everyone assumes that it will but nobody else pretends that the assumption is based on anything other than a guess based on the current generation and its popularity.

The frontend is 'ok', but the rear is terrible. I don't like how that looks at all, Toyota would make a big mistake going with something like that on a 4Runner.

Good question. The "unstoppable" video even made a point that the new GX550 will get the same fuel economy as the old V8 GX460 but that we shouldn't minimize the importance of the transition from a NA V8 to a TTV6...as if saying something is important makes it so.

I just looked at the unstoppable video and they suggested 19-20. Still sucks but better than 17. Thing is I do think that's going to be a good engine.

Interesting. That would be quite the downgrade if accurate. The Fortuner is not made in Japan. As a matter of fact, Toyota created that product line to reduce costs and sell primarily to "emerging markets" as they are assembled in Thailand, Phillipines, India, Venezuela, etc.

No, the new 4Runner will not look like an SUV, it will look like the new Tacoma.
