Better Transmission for 99 3.4? auto or manuel

i have a 99 limited with the 3.4 and auto trans, I'm looking for a manuel that can be upgraded to handle 400 HP or a different automatic transmission that can do the same, i want to keep my 4wd with out making too many modifications, anyone have suggestions?:yield:

It would take a lot to do a manual swap. You will pretty much need a whole donor truck. I would just look into getting a build A340F from IPT transmissions or another company that builds Toyota transmissions. Is your motor turbocharged? Good luck with you search

yeah its turbo and i had the tranny built but i have had to take it out twice now, 18 lbs may be too much boost but if the motor can take it i will find a tranny to put the power down.

I don't know what it costs to build an auto tranny, but the manual swap is not difficult at all. I did mine in my driveway by myself. But, you do need to source the parts. With all the part outs on here and other yota forums though it should be pretty easy to pick up what you need.

I don't know the answer to your question regarding which is better for high horsepower applications, but if you decide to make the switch to a manual, there are plenty of write-ups out there now. Mine is in my sig and there have been at least 2 others on here alone over the past year.

ill have to take one some time this week, i moved from WA to Scottdale AZ and just got it down here a month ago, i don't know where all the videos are except for the dyno vids
