I've never used KO2's in the snow, but the AT3's are better in the rain and when we had our once in a century storm in Texas last February they carved through the snow with ease.

I've never run Wildpeaks, but I've run a ton of BFG KO and KO2s. I have 265/70r17 C-load KO2s on my 4R now and I love them. Amazing in snow as they have been on all the vehicles I've run them on. Never an issue in rain. Super quiet. I've never had any balancing issues. Also are a C-load and weigh about the same as the stock Bridgestones.
All of these threads (and there are a ton of them comparing these 2 tires) end up the same way and it'll always be 50/50. Falkens have a cult following because they used to be cheap for a good tire. BFG ATs have been around forever in multiple variations and have millions of reviews. Both sides will say they have balancing issues, so they chose the other. It's always the same
Both are good tires, really. So, take your pick. You won't know how they really perform until you test them yourself, but you can bet either one is a good choice.

This is on stock KDSS suspension. Adjusted the front fender liner and cut a tiny bit off the plastic fender trim inside the well where the liner was pushed back. These fit well, as many have found. OME lift goes on in a few weeks.

I don't find any AT tire in decent shape any more "dangerous" in the rain than any other tire unless you are exaggerating or need to learn2drive.

Not sure if I missed it earlier, but did the OP state what size they're looking for?
I've used both between my 4th and 5th gen. You will be good with either. You will read good, bad, and terrible things about both. I think I put some 60k on both. They both were great.
Right now I'm on KO2 because that were readily available near me.

Do you ever own wildpeaks they are standard on the new rubicon and raptors as well the Subaru off roaders I’ve had them for 2 and half years and have been flawless !!!

KO2s are actually standard on Raptors. KO2s are also standard on Rubicons as well as Falkens.

Because they are a good tire that used to be super cheap (especially compared to KO2/KO), so it was a no brainer for those looking in the more aggressive AT market and it took off in the Toyota community. The pricing gap has caught up a bit, but they are still cheaper, for the most part.

Only advantage of the wild peaks is the price. If i was balling on a budget, i would consider wildpeaks. If i had a bigger budget i would consider ko2's and duratracs.

i have wildpeaks on my 5th gen and KO2s on my 3rd gen, living in MN. KO2s with 10k miles on them are getting louder and are mediocre/bad at winter driving, A/S tires perform better than the KO2s for winter. so far the wildpeaks on my 5th gen have been awesome but haven’t got to many miles on them.
if you live anywhere that has “baja” territory i’m sure the KO2s are just fine, anywhere with winter weather id stay away.
On a side note i just put goodyear ultra terrains on my duramax, completely different animal than a 4R but so far really liking them, pulls my fish house through deep snow on lakes pretty good.

just a quick update as the OP of the thread. I ended up going with the Wildpeak since I got a hook up through my gf family friend. $700 install at Mavis compared to the $980 installed for the KO2 at Costco.
I have a slight vibration around 50-60mph, don't know if I want to risk getting rebalance and making worse. Either way not bad enough to make me go back.
As far as performance, definitely an improvement over stock ORP tires. I drove through a couple heavy rain storms that we've been having here in NY/NJ with no issues. No real test in snow yet.
Overall I'm really happy with my first A/T tire. Also I was getting shitty gas mileage but once I inflated tires up to around 36-37 PSI, gas mileage normalized.

I would definitely go get it rebalanced at minimum. If it vibrates now it will only get worse as time goes by. Plus any vibration that occurs over a long period of time is only going to create more problems down the road.
A wheel not being balanced right is not that uncommon and most shops are happy to rebalance it . If it still continues I would also get a wheel alignment but I would recommend doing this anytime you get a new set of tires. If you still have vibrations. Then you might have a bad tire. Again this is not uncommon. When making the tire sometimes the mesh wiring doesn’t line up properly or the rubber doesn’t get distributed evenly. Minor molding imperfections are normal and that’s why you need to balance your tires to compensate for this but sometimes the molding is way off an no amount of balancing can correct this. If you have one of these tires don’t be afraid to go back and ask for a new tire. It’s should be part of the warranty..
