Biggest tires with 2" lift

Whats the biggest tire (height and width) I can run with a 2" suspension lift? I don't want to do any trimming. I plan on using the stock 16" wheel.

I'm guessing I could run 32's but not 33's. While we're on the subject. 32's on a 16"'wheel would be 275/70/16, right?

yep, i second duhockey. I had 265/75/16 on my stock 16's and no rubbing. I'm running 265/70/17 on my tundra 17's and still no rubbing.

I misread that at first.

Yeah, I'm running 265/75/16 right now on a stock rig with no problems.

So again, how big can you go with 2" suspension lift?

How much cutting do you want to do? If you do enough you can run a 37", if you don't want to do any then a narrow 33" is about the limit.

255/85/16 is the only narrow 33 (33.5x10 actually) made for a 16" wheel, however this tire is what I'm running and you WILL NOT fit this tire without a lot of trimming/cutting. I have a 3" sus, a 1" body, and a lot of fender trimming and I can still make em rub if I try. 285/75/16s rub less than the 255/85/16s.

You're going to have to do some trimming with any 33s unless you run ~4" of combined suspension and body lift - then you can run 285/75/16s with little or no trimming. 265/75/16s require no lift for '96-00s, but will most likely need the 2" lift to run them if yours is an '01 or '02 (or a 2wd of any year).

Post up some details about your truck in your sig because your questions depend on your exact year and drivetrain.

I'm out of town on business right now so I can't check my tires. I have some geolander at's on them but I don't remember if they are 265/70/16 or 265/75/16.

Can you take a fender height measurement with the tape centered over the hub on level ground?

You know what's weird is we have the exact same truck, and totally different experiences. I've never rubbed once (just kisses the edge of the frame at fulllock/stuff) with just a ~3.5" suspension lift, 882's with 5mm trim packers. I'm looking to drop mine down to save cv's and have a better COG. So from my experience with BFG 255/85's I would say a 2" lift with a minor beating to the pinchweld would be all you would need.
No rubbing.

Yeah, I can take some measurements tonight. I do sit higher than any OME set-up I've compared it against (about 15 vehicles now) so I know I'm not low by any means. My heavy duty springs make me sit a little higher than medium or light duty OMEs (i.e. 881s/890s). I also have a 1" BL, so I should be a little higher than you with 882s and trim packers (unless you have a BL too).

Keep in mind... When I pay attention, I can run trails all day and never rub. It can be avoided by knowing how to steer in the right situations and such. But, I also wheel the crap out of my truck so I place it into hairy spots and hang tires just about every weekend. Most people will not subject their junk to the abuses I put mine through and probably won't rub that much with some minor trimming.

I actually bowed my passenger side front fender the other day because I crammed my tire up against the bottom of the fender (near the firewall) on a v-notch obstacle. I had the tire turned towards the driver side about 1/2 way and the weight of the truck came down on it and it bowed the fender ~.5" out. I pressed hard against it and it looks normal again.

BTW, in your 2nd pic down rusm, it doesn't look like there's any way you could go through the whole range of steering stuffed like that without some rubbing (or cutting your fenders way back).

AARGH! The guys up here think a hard trail must be a body panel and window killer, so fear of body damage keeps me off the really extreme stuff.

Let's go wheelin!:reddance::lookout:
The second pic down is an optical illusion, there's actually a lot of room like in the first pic at the top. I wonder if the fenders have anything to do with it? I notice the brian2sun your truck has the limited fenders and it seems like the people that have rubbing issues all have the limited fenders? Or do I have some out of spec springs from OME? I was only supposed to get ~2.5" of lift with the set-up I have, not the 3.5" I ended up with. I'm curious to see some fender measurements.

Yeah, I'll ry to get some measurements tonight. I'm down to go wheelin! Are you in Socal? My flares are the SR5 flares (a little bit smaller than the Limited ones), but where they mount doesn't affect rubbing for me - they actually end short of the body.
