Bilstein 5100 - .85 Pic`s

Is the stock rake at 3/4 inch?
Im looking to do a budget lift. I thought 5100's all around and 1.5 daystar spacer in the back.
I'd like to keep the natural rake. Would the fronts set at 2.5 rears set at .75 maintain the stock rake?

Ive read the stiffness is pretty significant as well. Is there a softer feeling shock option? 98% road driven and minimal weekend on state trails/roads.

I need some opinions/facts...

I'm putting 5100s all the way around on my 2012 LE. Should I do 5100s and a spacer/5100s with toytec coils in the back/or 5100s with toytec coils all the way around.

I'm trying to get a nice ride and be able to fit my 285s more comfortable.

Also, that being said. With which option you decide please tell me what you think the setting should be on the 5100s to achieve the room of 285s. I was hoping I didn't have to extend it all the way to 2.5" but not sure if 1.75" will give me enough?

I've spent hours trying to get the answers to this on the forum but there's just no right or wrong on what I'm seeing. Thanks guys!

If money is no option then get the 5100's and upgrade the coils all the way around too. It's not needed, but if you want them go for it.

There is no right or wrong because lifting the truck only gives room to the tires while the truck is sitting still. There are fender mods, Body mount chop, etc, that will give you the most room with your 285's and minimize or stop the rubbing of your tires depending on how far you wanna go to make room.

If I was gifted a set of 285's I would go 1.75" on the front with a 20mm or 1 inch daystar spacer in the rear... Along with the fender mods and body mount chop as mentioned above to get me the most room possible. I am not sure if all that is needed to comfortably fit 285's but it would give you the most "breathing room" for your tires.

What I mention above is with stock wheels, backspacing, etc. If you have spacers on your wheels, wider rim, etc. a lot can come into play here.

Here are a couple pics of mine @ .85" with stock rear. I initially installed them at 1.75", but ended up switching to .85" before I went in for new tires/wheels/alignment. 1.75" was dead even at the wheel wells, with a slight reverse rake at the frame. As soon as I added any weight in the back, the reverse rake got to be too much for my liking, especially since I haven't stiffened up the rear end yet.
Running 265/70/17 KO2s on 8" wide FN FX Pro rims. Definitely gives it a better stance over stock. Tiny bit of rub in reverse at full lock right, so the inner fender mod is next.

I'm doing the exact same thing this weekend, except I am going to put my front at the third notch, which should give 1.75 of lift. Then I am doing 1.5 spacers in the rear and also installing airbags in the rear for towing or large loads. I expect this to give me just .25 more in the front relative to the rear. Probably won't be noticeable so it will feel like the stock rake but with a bit more clearance.

If you want the natural rake, I would not set the front at 2.5. It might also cause you to need a differential drop, which I have read is absolutely not necessary at 1.5.

The other cool thing about this is that I can install 2" lift springs whenever I want to the Bilstein shocks. I would probably do the front shocks at .85 with a OME spring and a 2" OME spring in the rear with the Bilstein (and remove the spacer).

This was super helpful, I'm running the same wheels and tires... Your truck looks great at .85!

Two questions:
1 - Were you running that wheel/tire combo on the stock suspension? If so, did you notice any rubbing then?
2 - Again, if you ran that wheel/tire combo on the stock suspension, how would you describe the ride on the billies vs. the stock shocks?

Thanks!

Glad it was helpful!

1 - I swapped the shocks and tires/wheels at the same time, so can't say wether or not they'd rub. My guess though is that they would.

2 - Only had the stock shocks on for about 150 miles. The only thing I can say for sure is that the braking nose dive was way bad on the stocks. Fixed the problem with the billies, and I really like the ride. Not much time off road yet, so can't speak to that.

Just did the bilstein .85 and K02 combo on my new 2017 TRD premium.
I have the same truck and thinking about doing the same thing.
1. How do you like the ride quality?
2. Did you have it aligned afterwards?
3. Are you experiencing any driver side lean or is that not an issue with stock springs?

Is anyone that has the 5100's set at 0.85 also running SCS wheels with 275's? This is the setup I'm looking at going with but the -10 offset of the Ray10's has me concerned that there may be some rubbing.

Hey just out of curiosity I'm in the middle of installing a set of 5100s in the front going to 2.25.. Does anyone know or have the Part Number for a 2016 T4R Trail Rear Coil Spacer from Daystar??

I've looked on the google web and Daystar doesn't give a P/N for them.

Will a set of FJ spacers fit??? Ive been reading on here that some do, any info would be great.

I’m on the record (in here) for saying it’s borderline too stiff. I’d prefer to take the pre-loading out of both front and rear, and just lift via springs instead. I may go that route in the next 6 to 12 months... but we’ll see.

mybabydaddy - I'm contemplating the 1" cornfed/Bilstein setup you have. If you were going to move in the direction of springs, what setup would you get? I don't want a huge lift - my wife forbids it :-) I can probably convince her that a 1"-ish lift is ok. Is there a spring lift option that would be about the equivalent lift amount as the cornfed setup you currently have?
