I'm the same way. I've had my 5100's sitting in my room for like 2 weeks and am finally getting around to installing them on Tuesday. Can't wait!!!!

Another quick pic...Went to get an alignment and just so happens that a stock '05 was in the parking lot. I wish I had taken a better side pic showing the difference in the stance, but you can still tell that my truck is much flatter and noticeably lifted. The tech even made a comment that he liked it.

I put the 5100's on the rear yesterday, but I couldn't tell much difference. Maybe a little stiffer.
Hopefully I'll notice more handling change when I do the fronts. Have to wait about a week until I get the money for alignment again. I guess I'll save for the Firestone Lifetime deal

Yea you will notice a much larger difference when you do the fronts. I did my rears the night before I did the fronts.

Just wanted to drop my 2 cents in...
I put Bilstein 5100s all the way around with stock springs and the fronts set at .85, and I am completely in love with the setup. Better ride, better handling and the rake is dang near level. There are pics in my profile albums.... Love these things!
I may go to FJ springs and raise the front one more notch someday, but for now I'm extremely happy.

Noticed that you have BFG AT T/A KO 265/70/17. Did you encounter any rubbing issues, etc.?

No rubbing whatsoever. These have been my favorite tires for over a decade, and I used them on my 99 Tacoma before the 4runner, getting 60-80K on them before replacing. When I installed them on my 4runner before the Bilsteins, they filled the wheel-wells too much but still didn't rub at all. I wouldn't go any bigger than 265/70/17 though, at least the way I'm set up now, without worrying about rubbing....

If you have patience then wait until some used ones pop up. I bought all four FJ coils and two front spacers from another member here for about $140 shipped. Some people have got them even cheaper and a few got them for free from FJ guys swapping out their suspension before this became a popular mod. Watch the classifieds on this site and on the FJ sites. A lot cheaper option than buying new if you can get them from a low mileage FJ. You'll want to make sure that they came from a 4x4 FJ too, otherwise I don't think they will give you any additional lift. Check out ARK_SWAMP_RIDER's suspension thread. He has compiled a lot of this information quite nicely.

Yea I put in the 5100's and they are awesome! But after I move im gonna look into the fj coils. Thanks for the info. And I've seen ark's thread. Props to him for a great thread!

Hi, I just thought I would post some data on my Bilstein install that may be useful for others. I have an 09 V6 sr5 4wd that had 2.75” of rake (measured from the center of the wheel hub to the bottom of the fender: front 18.5”, rear 21.25”) and installed 5100’s all around (front set at 0.85). The actual front lift was 1.25” and the rear did lift exactly 0.5” (as others have experienced). I could have easily went to the 1.75 setting if I knew for sure that the rear would lift (I can only assume because of the increased gas pressure helping the coil a bit vs the original shock?). With the current lift, the running boards are dead level now, where before they pointed down with the rest of the nose. It’s surprising how much room was opened up in the front wheel wells with only 1.25” of lift.
The best part of the shocks is the much improved handling. I am absolutely amazed at the change in handling without sacrificing the ride quality. As others have stated, nose dive during braking – gone, body roll during cornering – gone, bump steer – gone, original ride softness (stock coils) – no change.

Atlanta_man , I haven't got an aligment yet but will be taking it in. I will post results as soon as I get it done. There is nothing noticable to me at the moment though but I'm sure something will need to be tweaked.

dont get confused bro.. 5100s front are adjustable,rear ones are not
u dont have to raise it if u just want to .. spending money on bilstien 5100s is worth every penny ,they are stiffer than OEM shocks u will notice the difference in very first mile ..this is how i started doing mods on my 04 T4R 4X4 lil by lil ...
5100s ride adjs are the best entry level shocks u will find ....if u are not into extreme offroading 5100s are the way to go.
i did good research ,got help on this very forum and i changed mine to 5100s all the way around for lift i used after market coils over OEM or FJ coils and i am very satisfied with the results
ome 885 w/top plate spacer for 3" lift w/1" front differential drop ,my setting for front shocks is still @ the lowest level.
ICON rear coils from Icon vehicle dynamics for 2" lift..
OME 885 are 30 % stiffer than OEM/FJ coils u can add weight like a bumber /winch in the front to get it smooth if u want ,not a need n Icons are 20 % stiffer w/added capacity load ....
its stays ok .. unless u r going to lift ur beast ,there is no real need for an alignment with just replacing ur shocks ..

he put them on the .85 (little bit of lift) like I did
my alignment shop gave me double talk and no print out so I expect they did nothing but inspect (Kuafman Tire, Atlanta) $100 down the drain with those guys
