Bilstein 5100's & Cornfed spacers arrived

I too am looking for a leveled out look. It does appear that a lot of the trucks with the 1” spacer still have a pretty good rake. I’m just wondering, has anyone tried the 3/4” or 1/2” spacer in place of the 1” to achieve a more leveled look?

I did, Toyota specialist of Bothell, Wa install. They did a great job never any problem with install or post install. Been about a year now I think.

I have a 13' Limited with the XREAS (leaking). I ordered the 5100s and 1" rear cornfed spacers and will ditch the XREAS. Do you remember what Bothell Toy Specialists charged you for that job? I got quoted 5hr from Matts in Greenwood at 120/hr. I want it done right.

Swap done. I used Toyota Specialists of Bothell (north of Seattle). Here are some before/after pics. Overall VERY happy with the look. Its a DD, so I wasn't looking for monster truck. Just a "more proud" stance. I would say the ride is good. Haven't had it out a lot yet. Cornering is not as nice as the XREAS, but ride over potholes/bumps seems better than the blown XREAS for sure. The Bilsteins are a stiff shock, but not too stiff. Gave a new car type feel. I will definitely need to have the alignment done as both front wheels have some toe out camber. But it looks soooooo much better and overall was about 1150 CHEAPER than having the dealership replace the XREAS. Plus the guy said if I ever wanted it put back on that all the lines are there and it could be reconnected. I'm assuming he disconnected at the most distal check valves. 90k service done too!

I'm planning on getting the Cornfed 1in spacers and wanted to know if you have to switch the spacers since you have KDSS?
I heard that the thicker spacer would have to go onto the passenger side instead of the driver side.
Is that what you did?

I installed 3/4" Cornfed rear spacers a couple months ago in my Trail w/KDSS. The spacers were labeled driver/passenger and that's how i installed them. Seems to have come out pretty level side to side.

For all you limited owners that want some more before and after pics, here you go.

5100s on all 4 corners, 1.75" on front, 1" cornfed on rear. I went with 265s... I like the look of the 275s much better, but this is a DD so I didn't want to give up ride quality and gas mileage just for the look. Overall, I couldn't be happier with how it turned out.

For anyone who contributed to this thread, thank you for all your input. Super helpful information for a noob like me.

What total clearance does this add to your 5th gen? I’ve still looking to add just 2-3” and I’ll either be running factory tire size or slightly larger.

I would guess about 1.5" (1.75" in the front, 1" in the back). But you could make the front 2.5 and get a larger spacer in the back, I believe. It's funny, you wouldn't think 1.5" makes a whole lot of difference but I can absolutely tell when I get in and out of the 4Runner now.

Also, I forgot to mention ride quality... I love the ride with this set up compared to XREAS. I had read some posts that said losing the XREAS would make cornering worse, so I was a little concerned. I haven't noticed it whatsoever. And the body roll is now so much better than it was before. Feels less like a boat, very little nose dive when breaking.

BTW, it looks like my images aren't showing up. Is that because I'm a noobie to this forum? I tried attaching the images and linking to a URL. Neither worked.

Lastly, for those asking about rake... to my eye, the 1.75" front, 1" spacer in back looks almost level. I can't imagine going any higher in the front which would cause reverse rake if you had anything in the back (and maybe even if you didn't).

What made you go 3/4 vs the 1” spacer that the majority seem to use? I’m working on getting this setup and can’t decide which spacer to go with for the rear.

Did you ever hear more on this? I see the majority of people are running 1” spacers on the rear but was wondering about a 3/4 one instead.

i am running this setup as well. i would say there is a little more than 1" of fender gap difference front to rear. i think i have more around 1.5" difference. yes it's to accommodate loading, but also personal preference. aesthetically i like the look, also "level" fender gaps usually makes the frame/rockers look negatively raked.

before and after from day -2 to day 180-ish?

This is the look I am going for. Same color truck.

Chilow how has this setup held up over the years?

My bad. Just saw this message. I've since switched up my suspension setup due to additional weight from adding skid plates, front steel bumper/winch and rear drawer setup. However, I didn't have any issues with the 5100s and Cornfed spacer. Good budget setup IMO.
