Bilstein piston diameter

Does anyone know of the diameter of the rod that goes through the top hat and is threaded? I installed mine yesterday and did not go with new strut mounts, so about 1/2" is sticking out the top. To fix the problem I was just going to run some washers under the nut to account for the spacing issue.

Sounds like you might be missing a bushing or two then... There should be one on the bottom (normally stays attached to the top hat) and one on top. Follow the Bilstein instructions for washer placement.
