As for myself:

I picked up a D7000 for $549 to replace my Nikon D5100. I expect to sell the D5100 for about $325-$350 on EBAY. It's a big upgrade.

I picked up a PS4 with 2 games (GTA5 and Last of Us) for $399.
I'm going to sell my PS3 with 5 games for like $150 on EBay. We'll see.

I worked both days. Then spent the holiday pay on stuff yesterday when I did a bunch of Christmas shopping. Damn near got everyone squared away except my Secret Santa!

Didn't spend a dime. I have three family birthdays to celebrate by Elvis's birthday so I buy after Xmas. The best Black Friday deals were to be had during the Recession IMHO.

Lets be honest, hardly any of the young Americans expressed in that graph have the financial wherewithal even to read articles like those. I asked one of my financial guys how many clients he has that are my age that actually put money aside; 1 in 10, and he admitted that was being generous.




I've never bothered to find any physical shopping locations for Black Friday, but I do usually find some deals online.

Brian, you take great pics as it is. I'll be interested to see if you think there is a vast improvement with the 7000. My brother freelances for newspapers, etc. as a side job and one of, if not his favorite cameras to use is the D5300. Great pics. Don't ask me though what lenses he has in his arsenal.

Thanks. The big differences (for me) are:

* Weather Sealed so it should last far more years without a major servicing
* Built in auto-focus motor; this will allow for use of FX lenses if desired
* Dual SD card, semi-pro line of camera vs. high consumer

Thanks for the complement! The 5300 is mainly just a newer version of the 5100 with some small differences, the biggest being the much higher resolution of the 5300. I think the jump from 5100 to 7000 is bigger than the jump from 5300 to 7000. Especially since the 5300 is 24MP and the 7000 is only 16MP. I'm not sure I would change anything up if I had the 5300, I would probably wait a year or 2 until the D7100 (absolute latest) is on sale.
