They are pretty short, but should still work carrying an 11' boat. You're probably going to want to strap down the bow and the stern though.

Can anyone tell me where I may can find a small section of vinyl quickly. I have checked a few of the Auto Parts stores and Wal Mart and haven't had much luck. Would love to buy a small amount and wrap my rails tonight. Tired of looking at the last little bit of chrome left on my ride. I know I can order online, but I'm being a little impatient. :frusty:

Not sure you want opinions, but if you do read on....
Don't waste your time wrapping. Powder coat them.
You can look at my gallery for pics of the look. I can even give you the powder coat code that will match the color and texture of the end caps perfectly. Mine look like they are Toyota OEM black and will last essentially forever.

Always open to hearing opinions. Took a look at your ride. That looks perfect. I saw the BK-110 code under the picture. I have considered that as well. I have held off simply in case I decide to get a full length rack. Figured I'd go a cheaper route. But... may be better just to go ahead and do that.

Does anyone know if the standard silver on the TRDP roof rails is powder coated or painted? I located a local powder coat shop that can get the BK-110 color and he asked if they were painted or powder coated already - I can't tell to be honest - thanks

My end caps are silver. Why are everyone else's black?
How do you paint those? They are plastic - surely powdercoat won't work and I'd like them to match...

I just removed the Trail roof rack, stock, off of my 2013. This is all black. You can try to find one online or for sale close by. Otherwise I would certainly consider selling mine to you and you can private message me to figure out the details.if you're curious what it looks like take a peek at my build threadand there are several pictures with it still on the 4runner before I replaced it

What trim package do you have? SR5's and limited's have silver end caps. Before my Gobi Rack, I Plastidiped my rails and caps. If I could do it over again, I would had taken the rack off and sprayed it rather than taping and spraying while on the truck.

They are powder coated. I took my silver rails to the powder coating place and they powder coated them with black.

I have an SR5. I never use the roof rails so I was considering a permanent solution with spray paint instead of dipping them.
I don't want it to fade or chip however and look like shit. The plastic end caps have me nervous.
Anyone know How much the black end caps from Toyota cost?

Would spraying it using SEM's Factory Coat along with it's cleaning / clear coat products be a viable alternative? I have a stock SR5 and the silver gray on the top doesn't look as good. My second option is to wrap it, which might be easier but worried about it's long term conditions.

Hey guys, new member but not new to the forum. Thought I could chime in since I got a lot of help with my decision from this thread. I decided to wrap my roof rails and end caps in black vinyl. Painting is a cheaper and more durable way to do it, but I'm super picky and can't commit to permanently painting something without knowing what it will look like ahead of time hah.
But I had the roof rails and end caps of my 2105 SR5 wrapped in 3M 1080 Series Satin Black. I had doubts about choosing satin over matte but really glad I went with satin. The 1080 3M Satin black is more matte than it is gloss; exactly what I wanted. I removed the silver roof rails from the black mounting brackets along with the end caps ahead of time so it would be easier for the installer to wrap. I also specifically asked to leave the channel open so the OEM crossbars can move freely for any roof/ski rack. I left a slider from the OEM cross bars on each roof rail when I handed them to the installer so he could measure where to start/stop the vinyl.
When reinstalling the rails, I wrapped thread seal tape around the white nipples in the truck body, that the mounting brackets bolt to. This was probably over cautious (especially because I live in So. California) but that is a weak spot for a potential leak into the cabin. A silicone bead around the bottom would have been ideal.
I attempted to add pictures but this being my first reply/post, I probably botched it, my apologies in advance. Hope this helps anyone like you all helped me.
