Well glad I'm not off base in thinking I may have gotten shafted...
Like I mentioned I had not been to this dealer, nor will return, or to any Toyota dealer for that matter and couldn't be sure of their pricing practices.
Totally agree with both of you though. The diagnostic fee was mentioned, as seems is usual with most shops, however it was apparently not calculated into the estimate quoted to me and agreed on over the phone. Wasn't happy at all with that but would have probably let it go after voicing my displeasure to the service adviser I dealt with........what rubbed salt in the wound, as you both pointed out, was what the hell was there to really diagnose?? I brought it in, the tech was even standing there while I described the problem to the adviser, and it seemed like the obvious consensus was "bad blower motor". In retrospect, when it took them until 3p.m. yesterday to call with an update I started to wonder about this place.
FWIW I did discuss all this with the service adviser, as well a "service manager" and made clear my displeasure and lack of any future business with them. They stuck to their guns regarding their policies though, and honestly I knew I was just wasting my breath and time.
Definitely not happy but not going to dwell on it. Maybe an email to a higher up later on. Don't really want to trash a place by name for the good of the forum, those in NOVA should be able to tell where it was from my last post, PM me otherwise.
