so i bought this 02 limited 4runner with 136k on the clock for 7600 in march while i was in afghanistan. my obsession grew as i sat there impatiently waiting to get home and work on it so i just ordered parts for it so i could have everythig ready. well i got back about a month ago and after getting everything settled i can finally start working on it. only problem is even after all the reading i did on here i am still a little gun shy about doing all the work by myself so if anyone in the houston/killeen or san antonio areas want to get together and help me work on this that would be appreciated.

got these 5 star rims in a while back and finally got around to painting them, they have a pretty good amount of curb rub on the outer edges but once i painted them you cant see it as much plus i got them for a really good price. Also picked up the plastic bumper cover for $5 and the trailer hitch for $15 and its not in the picture but a gas cover for $3 which i also painted the same color as the rims at the local pick and pull.

I used Dupli Color Graphite for the wheels, i had my mind set on gun metal but the graphite was just dark enough for my liking.

CB Write Up

ok so i had ordered a Cobra 18 wx stII a while back and just got around to installing it. I was actually quite nervous going into it because i had no clue about lifting the carpet for a clean install or how to get the coax from the outside into the vehicle. hopefully this will help someone wanting to do it but not knowing how either

If you feel around under the driver side bumper you will find a grated slot that leads to inside the cargo area behing the panel. I saw this when i was at the junk yard and saw one without a bumper. i just feed as much coax as i could in there and hoped it would make its way inside and sure enough it did.
you have to unscrew the weather stripping to be able to lift the carpet and i just pulled a little right here to squeeze the cable out.

Once i fed it through i ran the coax under the carpet but on top of the black rubber noise reduction piece and just pulled it from the back seat after removing the weather stripping there. there is two little plastic clips that hold it down once you remove the screws so be careful not to break those but with a little effort it should come right out.

I actually didnt run it near the door on the drivers side and opted to just push it directly under the seat and over the little metal hump in the front of it, that was actually the hardest part because i couldnt quite reach that far under and was to lazy to take off the front door weather strip. once i got it over i just fed it through until i could reach it by the peddals and ran it into the back of the dash here.

i didnt get to take any pictures of the wiring because i was in a rush and it was getting dark but all i did was cut the connector from the back of the cig lighter since i never use it and we are lucky enough to have 2 additional 12v outlets right up front, attached a butt connector to the hot and ground and a spade connector on both the cb wires then just plug the spade into the correct connector. now if i ever decide to take out the cb or need the cig lighter again i can just unplug the spades and reconnect connect the lighter piece. i will try and take pictures next time i take apart the dash

Looks pretty factory to me, and the flip screen doesnt hit it at all unless i have to mic connected but that will soon be fixed by an elbow adaptor

Drove about 45 minutes away on Wednesday to go pick up this Yakima load warrior. It was such a sweet deal on CL, I got the basket, 2 bike racks and a wheel fork plus 2 crossbars and q towers all for 200. I sold the bars and q towers already for 150 so I basically got the rack and bike stuff for $50. oh and I also picked up this specialized hardrock for $60. Needs a little work but a good deal none the less

Ok so I'm about put my lift on today and wanted to make sure I'm going to do it right. for the front set up I don't know exactly which slot to place the strut "base" on for the 5100s( since I dont know what it's really called) to gain the desired amount of lift to match up with my 7 wraps in the back. I am told that I should get about 3 to 3.5" out of those on the back and I think I remember that I should set the front on the second peg but I don't know for sure. also when I assemble them I am going to put spring then tundra coil isolator and then 4runner top plate right?

I can't speak of the othe stuff....but yes....Tundra coil, Tundra isolator, and then 4Runner Top hat.....Good luck, and make sure you post up some pics!

Ok so finally got everything done. Couldnt find any time to do it myself so I dropped it off at a shop by my house over the weekend while I was in the Bahamas.

As I was on my way to get some 265/75 falkens ATs put on I checked craigslist one last time and found these things had just been posted up. guy used them for 3 days he said, they still have all the little rubber hairs, and changed his mind and wanted 20" rims. got the receipt and certs from discount tire from him also, he payed 1297 and I got them for 750 after a bit of haggling.

ok so final product after sweating the tires not fitting.
I think the color on the rims turned out to be perfect and is one of my favorite parts so far.

Didn't need to do any cutting or anything and tires don't rub at all

So I bought a factory skid plate and was all ready to put it on and spent about 30 minutes cleaning it of and making it look new and I asked my friend to go loosen the bolts for me and when I went outside he was just sitting there with this stupid look on his face... He stripped the bolt so bad by trying to turn it the wrong way that now it looks like a little metal circle under there. Anyone have any advice on how to remove it?

You could try to see if you can get them off with a pair of vice grips. Otherwise you're probably going to have to cut them off.

Oh and you might want to take your friend to get his man-card. :thumb3:

ya thats a pretty good size lift on there the 285/75's like perfect, Bfg's are great I'm sure you will be happy with them, you truck looks great! keep up the MOD's!
