Boaters...need outboard advice

Boaters--

Considering only these factors, what engine will deliver better power (top speed) for my Zodiac:

A new 4 stroke 9.9hp, or an older 2 stroke 15hp with about 85-90% of the original compression?

Again, just compare those two factors for power output only. Assume the 2 stroke is good to go with the other components being a used engine .

I hate mixing oil and fuel, 4 stroke wins for that alone

As for someone who works on boats in SC and is around them all the time here is my input. I would go with the 4 stroke for these reasons- they are better for the environment, more power, longer life (if taken care of), no fuel/oil mixture, andnthey aren’t as loud as 2 strokes.

YAMAHA is the only way to go. Suzuki’s have corrosion issues all around and mercury have powerhead issues.

4 stroke. Unless you have some nostalgia for a 2 stroke for whatever reason. Dirt bikes for example. 4 strokes there too are much superior, but there's something about ripping around on an old 2 stroke that just feels right sometimes.
