body lift for 4th gen.

I searched but Couldnt find any info on a body lift kit for my 05 Sport.

I already have a Daystar spacer kit installed, but I want to get a little higher.. Eventually I want to go with c/o's and 35's (but not for a year or two) So I'm going to need the BL anyways, so may as well do it now.

so if anyone knows any place that sells kits, hook me up ;)

OR if anyone has made their own spacers for a BL, then measurements or CAD files would be great ;)

They do need to get current with their website! I`ve never ordered anything from them. I just happened to have that in my bookmarks! I dont even remember how I found it!

did you have to install the steering shaft spacer and rad drop brackets for your 1inch BL? is there any gaps between the bumpers and body?

Unfortunately toytec parts are hard to get into canada without a rediculous shipping and brokerage fee. (they wanted $159 CAD JUST TO SHIP!)

You have to install the steering spacer but I didnt do the rad drop. I just cut the plastic around it.
 
I also have plans for a bodylift in my future and i am considering the Toytec. 1) because of the positive feed back on the products and customer service. I talked to Doug via e-mail a week ago when i found out about the bodylift being available on there website and i was very excited to hear about it.
A10MileHusker, was this an easy install and the plastic around the radiator is this on top of the fan? Just curious Pics would be cool. Thanks

I'm in the process of making a write up for the BL. If you open your hood you can see that there is plastic (i think its called shroud but dont quote me on that) and after the BL you will notice that it comes very close to the fan. If you plan on doing any flexing you will need to cut that because if your body flexes at all your fan will hit that and might explode on you.

I haven't looked specifically regarding the spare tire carrier but my guess is its still the same.
 
Yeah, it seems that if you lift the body the engine bay will lift as well leaving the Radiator,engine and other components an inch lower. The plastic shroud is on the top then as i suspected. Glad to hear that you are doing a write up on this. I am sure others are interested as well. I know when i hit the moderate trails i ride on clearance is an issue and mostly with suspension but getting the body a little higher couldn't hurt in certain situations and flexing with larger tires. Just make sure to throw in some pic's with your right up!
 
1 inch should be fine for the bumpers. Even 1.25 would be okay. But a 1.5 BL there would be a on the front bumper. Info from 4crawler.com 4Crawler Offroad - Custom Body Lift Kits

note the following info is from 4crawler:

4th Generation 4Runner and FJ Cruiser:
No bumper brackets are required on the 4th gen 4Runners and FJ Cruisers. The stock front bumper attaches to studs on the front of the frame. The studs are spaced 30mm on center and it is a simple matter to raise the bumper up that far by simply placing the bumper one set of holes upward. For a 1" body lift, the bumper will sit slightly higher than it used to, for a 1.5" lift, it'll be a little lower than before (relative to the body), but the offset is not evident. A 1.25" lift will result in a perfect fit.

Certain models will have a heavy steel crossemember behind the outer (cosmetic) front and rear bumper. At lifts above 1", the bottom of the cosmetic bumper may need to be trimmed to fit around the crossmember.

So why no rear bumper bracket on some vehicles?
On the Toyota 4Runners, the bumper is attached to the body, so it raises automatically with the body lift.

A 1 inch BL should give you just enough room for extra tire/fender clearance as well as help with our approach/departure angles on a 4th gen. Very important to me while off roading. Anything over 1 like a 1.5 would be better for these but will require a little more on the install. So, is it worth an extra 1/2 inch or is a 1 inch enough?
 
id say go 1'' if u want more clearance and 1.5'' if u want to fit 35's in there... but i have no experiance with this so dont trust my answer haha :)

why offer advice then?

Above 1.5" your going to need to adjust/extend brake lines, steering linkages etc etc.

With my 1.5" I also had to order new brackets for the radiator and also a steering shaft spacer. I only know one guy running above a 1.5" and I am sure there is more work required, but I am not sure of everything that is involved.
