Nice job on the BMC FactoryRide!Way to DIY!
I cut mine off very similar but didn't weld it back on.(no welder or welding skills, lol) I just left it open, cleaned it up by rounding off the corners, primed and painted. I may have somebody weld them up some day when I go to 35's but work just fine with my 34" tires now. Many on the FJ forum have just cut it and left it open as well as many others cut it off all the way to the rubber mounts and welded a rounded lip on it to look like the other 6. With 35's or bigger you will pretty much have to chop it all the way off to the actual rubber mounts.
Can you fit the 35s with stock suspension?

This thread is getting bumped again.
I am going to FINALLY get my body mount chop done next week, thanks to the_josh.
My question is has anyone trimmed the lower fender mount too? See Picture below.

Yes. Mine are cut off.
Good deal. I will have them trimmed off.
bimrunner approximately where did you cut?

Perfect time for this to get bumped back up. I may be redoing mine this weekend and cutting them way back this time around.

What sort of trimming did you do on that pinch weld? Any pics?

Mine wasn't so much the pinch weld as much as the fender mount. Hammer the pinch weld, don't cut it. It makes sense when you get in there. I don't have any good pics.
I would this done down the road ... is there any shops here in SoCal that would do this professionally ???
I might just hit up my friend who makes roll cages and does stitch welding on races cars. Not his cup of tee but I'll ask ...Check out Demello Offroad. They may do it.
