i used a small torque wrench (only b/c it had a longer handle) and a 12 sided 24mm nut. I know, should've used a 6 side, but couldn't find one anywhere and figured it would strip anyway. Will post a pic but am about to leave for the week so i don't get to attempt anymore till next monday. Will post pics then. i'm thinking getting a 23 mm socket and hammering it on. the bolt still has some side on it.

I just bought a 1997 sr5 4wd, 5 speed, with 88,000 miles - $6,000 . Body, interior and engine are in great shape, but undercarriage is a rust bucket. Looks worse than yours nolo. I'm hoping to sand, scrape, chisel, etc. as much off as possible, and then use rust converter and paint. I'll post pictures when I have the 4runner in my possession. Does anyone know if it's possible to powerwash any of the rust off, or if it can be sandblasted without taking a lot of parts off. Nolo, let me know how you're doing with yours.

bleh. been out of town. decided to take it on a trip to dallas though.... probably not the smartest 8 hour decision
cel light flashed a few times, then decided to stay on. it's still on, but haven't had time to check it at a code scanner, but will soon. tomorrow is shot all day, but tuesday i'm hoping for some time. something tells me it's an o2 sensor.. just a gut feeling. still got 20.7 mpg on the highway doing 80mph avg. not bad, eh???!!
