Bought another 4runner today

Dispite of the unintended included tool...you scored on a really nice runner! Wonder when is my turn with that kind of timing. The left over tool is a reminder for all of us to go over everything when someone else had their hands on our trucks. Good thing you checked it out before it got ugly. Im also liking your avitar! Is that a 70 SS El Camino and a 68 Chevelle? You got a nice start to your collection.

Yep, a 70 camino SS clone and a 68 chevelle. Sadly i sold the camino this past april. I sold the camino to build the 04 tacoma 4x4(pictured above)that i picked up for $500 with a busted motor. I LOVE my tacoma but man i miss that camino!

At least you still have the chevelle. You got the Tacoma for $500?! If so you are like the master of good Toyota deals!

Damn dude, that's a deal on the runner.

Next you are going to tell us it has the elocker, and you found $1,000 in the glove box.

Did you clean the MAF too?

No Elocker and no cash, but i did find 30 cents when i was detailing it this past weekend. No need to clean the MAF sensor no engine light was on. Check under Other Vehicles and search "$500 project truck" for more info and pics of my tacoma. The tacoma was a killer deal even tho it needed a motor. This silver 4runner at the $5800 selling price plus paying to have the axle seals & bearing replaced and now i have to deal with a inoperative sunroof, i don't think it was a great deal.

Guess this is a personal preference. On my current driver (2000 Sport), the CEL was not on, but the throttle response was a bit sluggish. I cleaned the MAF sensor and throttle body, then it drove a ton better.

My point was that since you have a new rig, and if can spare $10 and 20 minutes, it is a good thing to do. Not mandatory, but at least you would have a baseline of when the last time the MAF sensor and throttle body was cleaned...

You stole that truck.

2 years ago I paid $8500.00 for my 02 Sport. It had 84,000 miles and was in excellent shape. I bought it used from a local Toyota dealer for several reasons, it was clean, the dealer had sold the truck new and had ALL the service records dating back from day 1. My 4 Runner had been serviced at the dealer regularly and the timing belt and water pump had just been changed by the dealer. I thought I got a killer deal and I'm happy but think about it, you paid $2700 less than me and even if you add on $1000.00 worth of repairs, you still came out $1700.00 ahead of me.

By the way, love the GM Muscle. I have a 72 Camaro resto-mod with a big block, a Tremec 5 speed a 12 bolt rear, and lots of go fast goodies.

Yeah you still did good on that truck. About 18 months ago was when I got my 01' 4WD SR5 for $7500 with 140k miles. That was the best deal anywhere near us. It's super solid mechanically and the interior is in great shape. There's a few blemishes in the paint, nothing oxidized, just chips on the hood and stuff, but you don't see them when it's covered in dirt like it should be :bigok:. I had to do one of the rear axle seals too, which I think is something most people have to deal with.

MVP i did do a BG fuel injection service. I do it to all my f.i. vehicles, makes a big difference in performance, throttle response and mpg's. I did clean the MAF on my black runner but only because i was chasing a dtc.
