I am going to have to agree with you 100%
I think most of us realize we are doing the quick transition from gas to brake to activate this feature. The 4Runner's over-amplified reaction is what we are complaining about. It's a safety feature aimed at the lowest common denominator of driver... I get it. Some people need this type of technology and even us who consider ourselves attentive drivers may have benefited once or twice.
I'm only comparing the 4Runner to my 30+ vehicles I have owned and hundreds of others I have driven over the past 37 years. Realize I rent vehicles almost on a weekly basis - new, various makes and types. This is the only vehicle I have driven that reacts this way. I'm guessing my driving style is consistently the same. Again I'm used to it but I don't like it. I probably wouldn't like a Mercedes or Tesla with all the nanny crap on them either.
