Breaking in through trunk door?

Along with getting my front passenger window smashed in, the dumbasses tried to break in through the rear door. They were attempting to pry open the right side where the door latches to the frame. While driving behind another T4R yesterday, I noticed it had damage to the same exact area, as if someone else had tried to pry it open at that spot.

Is this a common occurrence? I'm debating just leaving the damage there to signify the car has already tried to be broken in to. I'm already out $330 to fix the window. Thanks!

That sucks man...I don't have an answer to your question but I thought I would add something to this thread.

Not too long ago, I saw a thread where this dude took pictures of thieves breaking into his car by disabling his alarm first through the hood. What happened was that, the thief was somewhat savvy breaking into his 4R only because he knew exactly where to drill in order to disable the alarm. Now, this might seem useless info. to you, but I think everyone including myself should add something as a barrier between the hood & the battery so next time a thief tries to drill through your hood, he'll only be drilling into a chunk of metal that won't allow him to reach his objective which is to disable alarm first before breaking in. My dad's 2nd gen was broken into through the back windows, too but they didn't try pry open anything. They just broke the window and took the head unit & a boxful of chops (yeah, a bunch of hoodrats freaking took a boxful of chips...god dammnit).


Where was your 4R when it was broken into? I have a very nice security camera system so there is virtually zero chances of thieves getting away when breaking into my 4R because I have quite a few of security cameras installed throughout my property, just not around the exterior part of the house. I once identified a kid that was trying to ring the bell and ditch, his parents weren't too happy when I presented the security footage of their child acting like a tool

Consider investing in a surveillance system, I personally believe it's a great investment on my part so I'm definitely satisfied with my sense of security.

I'm visiting family in Houston right now. Normally I'm in Dallas or Austin. The neighborhood is full of good people, it's just the worthless bums that roll through due to the neighborhood's proximity to downtown.

I saw the thread about that guy with the hood and was quite surprised. For some reason my alarm system didn't activate, even though the indicator light showed that something had broken in. I was in a room right next to the car outside, and didn't hear any horns blaring. Luckily the idiots weren't smart... they ignored a pair of UE TF10s (great headphones) and only took a cheap old Ipod. They even left the $10 spare gas money I had in there.

Yep, the hood guy would be me . Sorry to hear about your situation, I know how it feels. They'll get what's coming to them, karma is a motherf-er!
