@smkd13: I completely agree. I figure, I do not want to regret it years from now that I didn't pay an extra $50 to get much better welding/durability.

I am hoping they will live the life of my truck, and I will never have to purchase sliders again.

Plus the fact that sliders for 4runners are weld on and would be a pain to just replace later.

Lol my work here is done. I like the 4x sliders. The square tubing should be pretty beasty

Ha ha nope! I like the brand but I think people like to get it cause they like that it is a grenade. Lol

Well at least they were only 271. The ones from savage I am getting are 350 for DOM w/ kickout, CBI w/ DOM and kickout are 525!!!! So that is a GREAT price!!! what is the turn around time???

@smkd13: Haha, yeah. Most people dont know its a designer brand. I snowboard with some of their gear. But they dont deserve an advertising spot on my runner.
Turn around times are different. They are apparently shipping 2 packages. One package arrives this Friday and the other arrives this Saturday. So they will be installed by next week. (4X only has 1 shipping type and its Expedited so it ships super quick.)

And yes! They are at an unbeatable price!
Savage sliders are super nice but their site states that they can be installed on vehicles with a max of 2" BL, i have a 3" BL.

With 3 days of waiting time, competitive pricing, and awesome slider design, you cannot beat 4XInnovations. I highly recommend them!:clap2:

In my garage as of now:

QUESTION: So I am getting estimates for welding.
One shop said it would take 5 hours and will be $110 an hour plus a $40 welding fee. (Yeah, go f/$& yourself.)
One shop said it would take 2-3 hours max and said they would take $200 cash for the weld job. Although, this shop said if they were to paint it, it would be $200 a slider. (He said a lot of paint will be used because of overspray.)
I have a friend with a tig and mig welder and will do it for $75. However, I am not sure o his welding experience. I have never seen his work. (He is more of a friend of a friend).

Any recommendations as to what a reasonable price would be?

I might also just bedline spray can my sliders.
But should i paint them BEFORE or AFTER they've been installed?

The only tool Ive used was a chain wrench. I am replacing my hydraulic tensioner altogether if thats what your referring to.

I will post some pics of my current s(h)ituation.

So it all begins. The dredged timing belt/water pump/t-stat/hydrau... blah, blah. I got one of my ricer buddies to come over and help me. He was very enthused that we didnt have to jack my truck up to do this job. Oh the beauty of not having to construct a ramp to drive up on, AND then be able to fit a jack underneath, pstt.. Ricers..

My coolant after all 4 pipes pulled. Coolant and ATF fluid mixed. It can only happen in the bucket, NOT my engine

ONE OF THE FAN NUTS WERE STRIPPED TO DEATH. Nothing vice grips cant handle.

No I am referring to the tool to hold the crankshaft pulley in place while you remove the crankshaft nut. 217 ft/lbs to break away. Kind of a bit. The tool from snapon is about 70 bucks with a student discount. You can make it using a 1/2 x 2 x 1/2 steel tubing and some 3/8 in steel dowel. I have a picture of it at my house that I will post later.

The lovely timing belt project.
So I am going to get a wobble socket to remove the hydraulic tensioner. I will not remove AC compressor nor do I have the time to wait for the hydraulic tensioner compressor to be delivered.

Well, here goes more of the adventure:
Some of my parts on the side,

The crank pulley broke 1 Craftsman socket wrench, 1 3/8-1/2" adapter, 2 other various sockets and a Snap-On socket wrench did the job. The air compressed socket wrench didn't do jack.

After I got the bolt out. Dried mud flaking off

Does ANYONE think my Waterpump was going bad?

UPDATE: So I just grew some balls and went out and bought a universal 1/4" swivel socket.
It made my nightmare turn out to be a 5 minute job.
I also put Anti-Seize on all of my bolts.

It looks like a saga you have going on there. Thanks for all the pics. I see the GMB water pump looks good. Don't forget that the jiggle valve goes down (6 o'clock).

Kball is the man for figuring that 1/4" swivel and extension.

Your more than welcome for the photos. my thermostat didn't have a jiggle valve on it so I angled it exactly to my old t-stat and WP assembly. I will keep posting more. If anyone needs help with anything related to this job, I will always help anyone. Now I know what it is to work with these TB/WP jobs.

Notice the lower cam. You can see the pinkish paint mark lining up with the "Toyota or Aisin" notch.

I may just have to take you up on that offer...Its about time for me to change my timing belt, water pump, etc. and it would be great to have someone there who has some experience with it.

Definitely man. Let me know. Now I know why people say the first time around is a little tough but I could do it pretty quickly the second go around. The only special tools you could use but are not required are a breaker bar, chain wrench or strap wrench(chain, in my opinion), a new hydraulic tensioner or if your using your original one youll want the tensioner compressor, and that 1/4" swivel socket. Everything else is either a socket or open end box wrench; and their roughly 10, 12, 14, 17 and 19mm bolts and nuts throughout the project.
