Brighter Back Up Lights??

I did the same thing some others here have done. I put a couple of 55w halogen flood lights on the back. One on either side of the hitch (this wouldn't be ideal for off road use). I wired them to come on with the backup lights. I also put an AOB switch up front so I could use them for camping etc. I got them on clearance 90% off for a buck or two each and used one of the relays I had grabbed from the junkyard.

FYI Many 90s GM cars had weatherproof relays mounted on the firewall, some on a bracket that holds about 5. I get these for free or almost free at the junkyard.

Love the rigid lights has anyone tried putting the flush mounts on the 4th gen bumper? I have a set of rigid duallys on the back of my 88 pickup they are brighter then my headlights.

I was going to flush mount in my 4th gen, but bumper is not flat enough and won't sit right. Rigid Cree lights is what I have. I'm still trying to come up with something I will let you know if I figure it out.

I got vLeds LEDs for mine. Yes, they are much brighter than stock (stock lights are a joke). You will get noticed by other drivers of your intention to back up (previously not so much as the stock bulbs were very dim). Do they illuminate the road behind you? Not really. If you want awesome visibility, do what [MENTION=91230]iBison[/MENTION] did and wire up some halogen fog lights. [MENTION=5149]riceandpho[/MENTION] 's setup is nice, but a little overkill for me, LMAO.

Like many others, I'd like an option that seems integrated rather than bolted on. I was looking at my back end, at the molded-in notches on the bumper, like this guy's. Since the center one on mine is notched for the trailer hitch, I was wondering if there was a purpose for the other two beyond just simple aesthetics. Is there enough room behind the cover to mount something in that space?

@TiN had a really cool 3D printer project retrofit he sells for forum members, I myself went through with it and it fits well into the 03-05 bumpers, and not to mention has tons of light throw with the superbrightLEDs it's made for.

I saw that! It's a beautiful job, really, and a genius use of what's already there. It's one of the reasons I was wondering about the other indents on the later 4th gens.
