I get off work at 0600 that morning guys...probably won't make it..will need to be on vacation to make the trip

A beautiful 5th gen checked into the resort yesterday where I work so I gave him an invite. I don't think he'll make it but the more the merrier. Weather will be beautiful this weekend up here!

How is the weather up there so far? I keep getting flash flood and thunderstorm warnings for the Sedona area. Hope its not too wet up there for us.
I picked a screw in the sidewall on my 06 today. I'm going to head to Discount Tire first thing in the morning hopfully to get a whole new set of tires. These street tires aren't going to be much help in the red mud anyway so I'm going to see about some Nitto Terra Grappler G2's.
My buddy Garrit with the 89 4Runner that looks like Cecil will probably come along too if that is ok with ya'll....
I'll keep ya posted on tires - if I can't score some new rubber I might not make it because the spare is pretty worthless, I wasn't sure I'd even make it home from work on it.

So far it's been pretty dry. We had one ten minute storm yesterday afternoon. Chance for rain today is 60% and Sunday we shouldn't see any. A little mud will probably make the trail better. Schnebly Hill is an easy trail with only a few moderate spots. Soldiers Pass is very easy. It has a "hard" rating because of the rock shelves but I have been on that trail while its muddy and had no issues.
Hope the tire situation works out! I'm excited that we might have a large turn out!

Even with street tires you should still be OK. I've run Broken Arrow a bunch of times on my stock Duelers (which suck by the way). Even wet, that slick rock is still like sandpaper. I drop the pressure to around 22 psi and they grip just fine. Still, I'm looking at some KO2s after this road trip. I need a tire that'll make a good DD as well as perform marginally well off road.

I think I'm going to try to stay in the C-D range so it's Nitto or Duratracks from discount I also saw some 16" pizza cutter STT PRO at discount for $140 but I think they are a little too aggressive for a DD

You're lucky with your little 16 inch rims. Once you get to 17s the prices increase dramatically. I'm looking at $250 a tire for KO2s in a 285/70R17. $225 each for the Cooper ST MAXX in pizza cutter 255/80R17. Don't even get me started with mud terrain tires.
I know my kids expect to be treated to some kind of chow while we're up there that isn't soggy daddy sammiches. I would pack snacks for the road, but I'm thinking we find someplace to eat that won't break the bank. Maybe we grab lunch after running Soldier Pass and then run the Arrow?

Once you take the Schnebly Hill exit and make a left, the pavement ends then you go over a cattle guard and just after that about 50 yards is a pull out area. Meet there?

Well, I went looking for some Nitto Terra Grappler G2 in a 265/70R18P but it seems no one stocks them. So i ordered a set with Discount Tire and got a great deal. They were able to fix the tire so it looks like we'll be seein ya'll in the morning with the 06 on the crappy 265/65 street tires.
and my buddy Garret is coming - he has an 89 4Runner that looks similar to mine.

Did it take everyone over 3.5 hours to get home? we were stopped on the 17 just north of Sunset Point for about 30 minutes, then once it started moving again we didn't get over 20mph until we were south of Black Canyon City. We didn't get home until around 9.

This was a great trip (my driver's door incident not withstanding...). I was bummed that Soldier Pass was closed! But Broken Arrow did not disappoint! I have a slew of pics on my camera to upload as well and I'll try and get that done tonight... I was very pleased with how my runner handled the steps and ledges with the lift on it.
I was stuck in that traffic jam as well. It was crawling at around 5-7 mph the entire way down the hill. chatter on the CB from northbound trucks said there was a tractor trailer accident around mile post 239 and traffic was backed up all the way to mile post 260 (and possibly further). All total I was stuck in that for around an hour and 20 minutes. Sucked!!!
Now for an update on the door. Dropped it off at the shop and it looks like it's going to need to be replaced, and there is enough damage to the A-pillar and front driver's quarter panel to justify those as well. Probably around 2K in damage. Ouch!!!
