BudBuilt hidden winch mount worth it?

I'm considering purchasing a BudBuilt hidden winch mount but $375 sure seems like a lot of money for a winch mount...am I missing something here? I can see....$150, $200, $225...maybe even $250 on a good day. Is this mount that complex to warrant the cost?

Only if you want to install a winch and also want it hidden :jk: Yes, I think they are the cat's meow.

Edit - Rumor has it that they may be a used one for sale soon in the For Sale sticky so keep checking there.

Just buy the whole bumper and get the added protection. :)

Teaser, Phillyd is actually adding a 2nd, thats right a 2ND 4wheel drive knob to his 4Runner to make it (hmm..1,2,3....) yes 8WD! Who needs a winch when you have 8WD?

Anyhoo....back on track please...

So back to the original question. I know it's a niche product but $375 for a winch mount seems like a lot. Can anyone offer up pictures of the mount itself?

As far as pricing goes, it's worth as much as one is willing to pay. Look at it this way, can you make one any cheaper yourself including your time and labor and at a comparable quality/fit/finish?

Sure it's just a piece of cut steel, but lots of thought and time went into designing it. In my opinion it's a fair price; but I also suck at welding and all thing's related to metal fabrication :)

No regrets from me. I hummed and hawed a bit too, but, I am glad I purchased. Solid piece of gear, nice fit, excellent use of space, and works great.
I think part of the price is based on the unique design. You can't compare plate to another generic type. No comparison to design and fitment to 5th gen.
The only thing worth considering is if you were going to look at getting an upgraded bumper sometime in the future, otherwise, do it!
(No, I do not own stock or collect royalties from Bud.)

Not to be a jerk but then don't buy one. I happen to think they are brilliant, well designed and very functional while allowing the trucks to remain looking stock. But at the end of the day it holds a winch. Do you need something to hold a winch? If so, would you like it hidden? If yes, it may be for you!

Many build threads including mine have pics of them.

Those are great points...and to boot do you want to take a chance it'll fail...especially when you need it most?

Well worth the money...
