Budbuilt Winch Plate installation

Your going to want to re-spool that line under tension, once you get it mounted.

Mine is a warn, so the solenoid box is different, but there is not a whole lot of room to work with behind the bumper, especially once you start plugging in winch control cables. It was a lot easier for me to relocate the box in the hood. Better for moisture and dirt exposure, too.

I'm planning to replace my solenoid box with a new contactor type which are likely to be more reliable and much smaller.

I have a nice piece of #2 red/black from McMastercarr...so I'll put new copper lugs on it, and keep it in the engine bay,probably behind the second battery.

Keeps the line from slipping between wraps on lower layers

You need the extra tension especially in the early spooling to ensure that you are getting the best pull and to prevent tangles. Here are some aussie blokes doin' it

I warn and my control box sits the same as on your picture. I just cut out a notch in the metal bracket that goes between lower part of the bumper and upper. For easy plug in. Like it mention before you want to spool the line on tension, so me and Dave tied it to the tree and I pulled my truck while Dave was making sure that it wraps evenly. The only thing we should of done is to spool the line then put the bumper cover back, that way you can see how the line is beings spooled.

Ok..everything's loose..trying to drop the f******* in...and the damn sensor in the center of the picture is in the way...any ideas what to do with it??



I'm sure this is the beginning of stay "in the way", but after basically taking all the wiring apart and replacing it, cleaning up all the ends, and relocating the plug for the controller..I got this biatch on the run.

Of course it started to rain and I had to move into the garage opening...fml

You have to take the sensor out and relocate, sorry forgot to mention it.

Dave took the pliers and just pulled it, but if you look behind there is two tabs i think if you squeeze them then it should come out.

I'm uploading pictures of the sensor and how it is relocated, well i just went with the flow of Dave, so far it seems to work

Thanks guys for the help...

A few things burned up extra time..but it all came together FWIW..



Opened the control box and got a good look at everything///one word...ugly...so I rewired a bunch of stuff and cleaned at all up, then on to the install






Never did the pipe that runs across the back exactly the way I wanted it, but I used up my time allotment on it, so it's good enough.


Redid the horns, gave then a spritz of black




Snapped everything back together, and cleaned up. Tomorrow night at work I redo the winch line tight.
