Yup. Check out the first picture in the thread, you will see that the back of the projector is threaded. This threaded section just slides into the light buld hole and also come with an adapter to hold it correctly in place. Very easy install and did not require any cutting. That is the main reason I went this route in the first place, mainly for the learning experience!

That's genius.. Makes for a nice clean dummy-proof install lol! Did you use any silicone just in case, for an extra seal?

I actually used the factory boot that is on the back of the headlight assembly. I cut it just a little bit to help the new hid bulbs fit through, so far not even a drop of moisture has been in my housings and I still retained a factory look on the back of the housing.

I'm gonna tackle this project also. Just ordered everything up. Quick question though, the wires on the projector ballasts control the high beams and low beams. Do those wires attach to that hi/low harness?

I'm trying to understand how the these have a high beam function. Right now I just have HID's swapped into my stranded 2001 Housing. The high beam on those works with by the bulb being pulled back changing the lights position in the housing thus changing the beam pattern.

So how do these H1 bulbs have a high beam function??

Awesome! I knew someone else had to have been looking at the same amazon retrofit kit I was. I just got an 01' SR5 4WD for a commuter and wanted to do something about the headlights. My stock halogens are ridiculously dark. I'll be doing this once it gets warmer out. I'll be getting 4300k though for maximum visibility.

Quick question, how come you opted for H1 bulbs instead of using the H4 plate that's included from the kit? Everywhere I've looked, they all state that h4 and 9003 are "interchangeable".

Those projectors are designed to take H1 bulbs. The h4 plate is to adapt the projector itself to the factory headlight housing.

the painted assembly looks great on your car. i've seen some others where it just didn't look right for some reason. i'm considering doing it as well, but I don't think it'll look good with clear corners (even if i smoke them) and the clear bumper turn signals. I suppose I'm mostly concerned if I smoke the turn signals of the light output.

did you plastidip the chrome on the bumper/grill or paint it with something else?
 
So I'm a bit confused. With your exact setup you CAN or CANNOT use a high/low beam function? Looking on Amazon at those parts I'm reading it as being only low beam capable. I'd love to copy your budget setup, but I definitely want to keep the high beam. Oklahoma back roads get dark.

Looks awesome man. This is pretty much the basic setup I started out with and I loved it.

The only thing I'd recommend, especially if youre already thinking about changing the bulbs already, is get some morimoto bulbs. I ran ddm bulbs for a while and they were decent but most generic hid bulbs like that dont have a good UV layer. I noticed my light output had gotten noticably dimmer so I took them back apart and the reflector bowls in the projector were damaged from the UV rays.

Save yourself some trouble and buy the better bulbs. Theyre more expensive, buy hey, theyre brighter too.

If you want some ideas, look at my build thread. I opened up the turn signals and corner lights and painted them the same color as the headlights. The blinkers were still plenty bright since the lenses were clear.

The high beam function isnt in the bulb itself, but part of the projector. A shield flips down to allow the light to project higher. So youll still have your high beam.

I think someone linked an explanation farther up in the thread if you want to see how it works.
