Building the Black Pearl...

Good start to the build! How do you like the speaker upgrade? I think that's next on my list.

I really like it. Personally I was looking at my audio on a budget. So to say I got it all, and knocked it out for right around the 500 mark, its really good. I want to add the Alpine amp for the speakers, and a small sub under the passenger seat. Overall I will say well worth it.

I have looked at the Ultragauge, but it doesn't show the trans temps that I am aware of. I would like to have that as I live in North Carolina right now, and it gets hot.

Do you have the Ultra, what do you like about it?

Took me forever to get back on the forum. I would also like to see trans temp, but I bought the UG for my Corolla before I had my 4R. I'll just buy a separate sensor. Check out this link.

I like the UG, it offers more gauges and multiple pages. If you install it in the right spot, you can change pages while on the move relatively easily. It's also so much cheaper! I'm sure I can get an UG and a trans temp sensor for way less than a SG. You can also calibrate it, so if you want to track your fuel economy, it does a good job of doing so.

Not sure what route I am going to go yet. Really want to keep it simple...so we will see.

I've also seen some stereos with the option to display some of the obd2 gauges. That's an expensive option, but if you are in the market for one, certainly something worth looking into. I know when I get around to my stereo upgrade, I will strongly consider that route or at least try to find a stereo that fits my needs that also has the gauge display.

Keep us posted!

Here is the latest view of my T4R...I have been working a lot...and am broke a lot...dont we all know that feeling?:dammit: Anyways, got my decals in last week, got them on..I still need to get the front coilovers cranked up. Anyone know a better way to do this...its been a real PITA...and I am frustrated enough that I may just take it somewhere. Got any ideas? Oh, while I am thinking of it, anyone heard of ADS coilovers? Supposedly on par with King, and better corrosion resistance...hmmm

So just did some routine maintenance, oil change today(Mobil 1 high mileage with some Lucas Oil additive), air filter change, think I found the clunk and squeak. There was a nut missing off the passenger sway bar end link, and the drivers side was spinning freely. Got a new nut, and tightened the other one down. Hopefully that stops the clunk and squeak. Noticed this today too, anybody elses sit slightly off? Is it just me, or is it noticeable to anyone else? Now to figure that out too....next up though, LBJs. Don't know when they were done, but I think they need it.

If you're working a lot, and broke a lot, I'm betting you're working to make someone else rich. Screw that ... work for yourself. I made the swap 3 years ago and haven't looked back since :)

I guess you could say that...I am in the Army...so I don't know who's getting rich, but its not me.:loco:

I just replaced all the rear sway bar bushings. It makes the back end hop around less, and the taco lean looks better. Ordered the LBJs for both sides, trying to get on top of the maintenance before I start trying to order armor, winches, etc. I am also considering dumping these Radflos. Really starting to frustrate me. Any good ideas on how to not break everything as I am trying to get the steering rack bushings off, and the front sway bar?

Maybe someone wants to come help get parts on this weekend?

Really excited that I just ordered a set of Built Right UCAs from The Truck Shop, and they were on sale. Did you install yours yourself BrianSD_42?

I had them installed at the Truck Shop!

Be sure to get some dry silicone spray for the UniBall and you will be good to go.

Any brand in specific that you use? Where do you get it from BrianSD_42?

Ok, so I will be putting these on Wednesday. I am hoping this dry lube works, I haven't really seen anything else other than the stuff recommended from Wheelers. I may order that, and use this until I get the new stuff....thoughts? Along with doing the LBJs, and the steering rack bushings, and if I can get the front sway bar bolts loose, then I will be putting in new front sway bar bushings.

Just to get some ideas on sway bar end links, preferences, pluses and minuses of things you have or had? Need some new rear end links.

Well this is about a week later....thanks to Doc2012 the Built right UCAs are on. some weird bulging from the bushings after the grease went in. Other than that, they are good. Need to get the LBJs done, and the outer tie rod ends done too, and an alignment. Here are some pics of the before, during and after. Sorry there aren't more, it was 103 and 85% humidity. So I kind of stopped focusing on the pictures and tried to get it all knocked out.
BrianSD_42 where did they route that brake line that comes down for the ABS? When you take it all off theres no place to bolt it back up to. Did they just leave it hanging free, or zip tie it?

Also, can anyone tell me how to make my pictures sit the correct way?

I'm having a slight issue with the bushings on the built right ucas. BrianSD_42, can you tell me if this is normal, or if the grease will push out and sit flat like yours do?
