Bull Bar On Ebay Opinions

Ive got a 99 Limited 4X4 in millenium silver. Ive always wanted a brush guard, but with the one tone silver of my 4Runner i think a bull bar may do the job a little better (Ill also get better MPG correct???). I know about the whole "damage multiplier" this is purely for looks, looking to add lights eventually to it. Feed back on this seems cheap at 140 shipped. thanks

You have a 4x4 - Do you go off road? That thing will seriously compromise your approach angle.

That thing would look great on an Explorer, though. You'd look like the baddest soccer mom at the mall. :D

Sure it's only $140 or less, but it's not like we're asking for protection here. I'm with the OP in that I'm just looking for some style and a place to mount some lights without drilling holes in my bumper. Why spend tons of money for that? Cheap is good! These are both products made by Hunter which make some other good quality products as well.
 
I'd see if you could get it in black. Chrome bull bars are a little loud in my opinion. Other than that, I say go for it. If you're not going to go off-road, then I don't see why not. The only thing I'd worry about is the price. It's probably a sign of a cheap product and I'd bank on it rusting pretty fast.
 
I 2nd what Hepar said. There's nothing wrong with inexpensive, its just that the silver/chrome is making it cheap. Either get it in black, so you can rattle can it once a year, or strip the chrome off of it right out of the box, and spray it before putting it on.

Yeah, black would look much better. They sell the same bar in black on the truck gear direct website. I've seen a few of the guys on here have them and they look pretty good, though they are lacking in strength. Still, not bad if you don't do much offroading..
 
I think black would look better if you have to buy it.

but, if you are not going to go off road...then, I would just recess some driving lights like Fightman's. His set up is nice!
 
Ok, nah I dont really go off roading. And why does everyone keep saying black? Normally I would agree, but I have the silver one tone and I think black would look cheap when my 4Runner is so clean as is the chrome will give it some class

I got my 97 4runner used. And it had a chrome brush guard on it. I removed it to see how it would look, but IMO my 4runner looked better with the brush guard on. Of course, nothing can beat the awesomeness of replacing the front bumper with ARB, shrockworks, etc. But not everyone has the money or is gonna off-road. I use my 4runner in the urban setting, and it sees snow every season when I use it to go into the mountains. Currently thinking of spraying the chrome to (gloss?) black, to match my black 4runner.
 
I think on silver the chrome will look nicer, just worried about the rust. Do you guys maybe suggest a full on brush guard? Ive always wanted one. which one..opinions??

Ok. I will answer your same exact question one more time. If you are going to stick with the $hitty chrome, then do it already. The majority has already stated a black bull bar.
 
You cannot post up a picture of Burtmans 4Runner for comparison... That thing is stupid clean.

If you get the bullbar, I'd get chrome. I would also get clear lights like in Burtmans photo.
 
Then I would find your center cap, and either put your license plate back on, or take those white things out of the holes.
 
^^ Center cap is back on I had the photos from when it was out. Ok, question regarding a brush guard, anyone notice there MPG drop due to the weight of one?
 
Hunter is fine, I had mine for a little over a year i think? but it just needed minor touch up every once in a while. The chrome ones from Hunter i hear rust like mad!
with MPG's i didn't notice a difference.

The drawback with Hunter is it comes in 3 pieces, So the bolts they send you need to painted if you get the black one.

oh and BTW, i know i already posted this on page one, but i'm trying to get rid of mine, just cause i wanted to change the look of my 4runner depending on shipping you could save some money?
