Agreed that they don't add much over stock. Based on the pics and the fact they go over the OEM mud flaps likes like you gain between 0.5" to 1" of coverage. This will cover 99% of the aftermarket 4runner wheels with tires under 315 tires and less than 3" of lift. Whether or not they'll still rub without some trimming with these sizes is a whole other issue
I dont see the point personally... if I lived in a commi state that forced me to cover the tires I'd move... I prefer not to look like I drove through a quadratec catalog lol
some curb feelers would set it of nice too

I do live in said state... still won't be doing this! If I was going to do fenders, I'd do a real LT kit, trim fenders and have some built onto my rig for function. Just say no to slap-n-go.

I kind of like them. They look a lot like the Tacoma flares.....which is no surprise. I wonder if they'll offer an option of no bolts?

Are these designed to go over the stock flares or do you remove the factory flares. Seems like a huge pain in the ass too me if you have to take your flares off. I bought these for my jeep and i remember the rubber not sticking great and the first time you bottom out... say good by to the flares...not to mention a trap for mud and debris. They scratch easily like our bumpers. But that was 6 years ago maybe they changed the plastic.

Yep, I don't see the point. Factory wheels already underhang the stock fenders, so adding a flare will make that effect even more pronounced.
The only real application for flares would be a long travel suspension set up, but you're not gaining any clearance for up travel. This is all show and no go. Big thumbs down.

Removing wouldn't even do it as they are really just trim pieces. You would need to cut them higher and fab something from fiberglass and then patch the inside wheel well... Just waiting for TC to build a longer front axle... that or come up with a SAS that works well.

I was actually thinking about this the other day...I know the fender liner wild be a challenge, but could you not have a body shop cut and roll the fenders?

I think it is hard to really say since nobody has been there yet. Hopefully we could do exactly that but it might take more work depending on how much movement a new axle brought to the rig. It's a big unknown at this point. The rear would definitely be tricky though withy the door being where it is.
