Check my build, I did a little write up on the ashtray install. But the ashtrays are a bit different on the 96-98 models.

really wasnt as bad as i thought it would be. :reddance: now all i need to do is wait till the 22nd when i get my mount from t4r4life!

Hey Santa Cruz Runner...where did you get those coax 90's? Amazon? Local? Just want to make sure I'm buying the right stuff.

Also...I plan to buy the quick disconnect and spring as well. Do I need anything else to mount the antenna to the tr4 mount? I notice K-4 and K-4A studs on Amazon that people buy with the antennas and springs. Needed or do the spring and quick disconnect come with something to plug the 90 or wire into. Thanks

yea i got them on amazon, Amazon.com: Roadpro 90 Degree L Connector-PL-259 To SO-239 Right Angle Male-Female Excellent Performance: Electronics
Thats the ony thing im worried about is the spring to antenna line, will it be a direct bolt up or do i need to order something real quick?

i hooked up my 90 then the coax, but the coax will mount right to it also.

I was going to go (top to bottom): Antenna(4' Firestik)>Spring>Quick Disconnect>tr4r mount>90deg coax fitting>18ft cable

So I don't need the K-4/K-4A mount? The coax screws right into the spring or quick disconnect? Didn't know those had coax connections on them. But you also can't tell from the pics.

Also...can't decide that 19DXIV or the 18WXSTII. Do I really need the 10 Weather Stations. I am in CO and weather changes here constantly. I like the smaller size of the 19DX, but can you hear the speaker OK if it's mounted in the ashtray? Opinions???

Looks like you need a Firestik Stud like you linked above. But I could be wrong. But glad these questions are getting asked cuz I wondered how the coax connected to the spring or quick disconnect.

my 90deg doesnt screw into the spring, i think i need some type if mount but im not 100% sure, i need someone to tell me that has done it!
i have the 19dx and you can hear the speaker fine in the position, at least for me in my 96, idk about 99-02
