Look what i found on the interwebs! Looks like C4 is bringing us 5th gen folks a new ladder!

If so looks like slotted holes on the side for attaching goodies (antennas, lights w.e.) , flat step plates and maybe some grip pads so far i really like it

It does kind of have that erector set look to it but I have to say I like it. I might have to get one if it goes into production.

if lead times are less then Gobi and that bolt on top plate helps lower shipping costs and they make a ton of accessories that can bolt on to it... this is has the DNA to be a game changer for sure.

Not only that but I'm a fat piece of shit and I feel like the Gobi ladder will bend under me. This looks like it could actually handle someone over 250lbs.

Talked to them today on FB. They said 6-8 week lead time and hoping to keep it around $300. They hope to have lots of accessories announced soon. Depending on whether or not it will work with my front runner, and if it can hold more than the Gobi I'm in.

I agree...

the channel/square tubing or whatever it is....use a smaller size. they probably picked that size to make the steps more practical but really you just need them big enough for your toes.

Why not use 1/4" aluminum pieces for the sides and then the same aluminum crossbars that prinsu uses as the steps. Then you can attach sh1t to the ladder and be extra tacticool.:keyboard:

the extruded aluminum for the prinsu rack is not cheap and is fairly heavy due to its shape. I think bent metal with slots is good method for this product

Its actually pretty cheap.... :shrug

I'd have a bit more weight knowing it won't rust...Also doubt its much heavier. a 12" piece of aluminum is nothing

Do theae types of ladders cause damage to the paint underneath? It seems like where they hook onto the top and bottom edge it could cause paint damage over time unless it has some type of protection there.

typically they have a dense thin foam in between or doublesided tape layer

C4 Ladder

I don't care for all the bolts and nooks and crannies of the Prinsu rack so it's no surprise that I don't care for this ladder either, for the same reason. All those flat plates bolted together invite water, road grime and dirt to get in between. Eventually all of these bolted roof racks and ladders will have a dirty dinge at the connections that is hard and unlikely to get cleaned. The backs of these SUVs have a wind vortex that draws fine dust onto the back tailgate. That dust will get all over this ladder.

I like all of the other C4 products. But I like the simplicity of the Baja Rack ladder or the Gobi ladder. Water can't get inside. Dirt and road grime won't collect and it's easy to clean.
