My SSO roof rack has an option for, as they describe it, stainless steel black oxide bolts so hopefully rust not an issue.

Would prefer to keep the same look with the ladder.

all my stainless steel black oxide bolts.. have rusted.. and i don't even get that much road salt... mine were purchased elsewhere, but they black oxide stainless bolts.
 
I kinda like the exposed (silver) bolts and hardware... I didn't think I would, but my LFD Offroad 7/8ths rack has them, and it looks more rugged to me. I think this ladder would be a perfect match for my roof rack in regards to looks and functionality!

That's because "Black Oxide" IS a form of "Rust" or Oxidized finish. It's a common misconception. It is more of a cosmetic coating to make hardware black than it is a protective coating. I see this all the time at work.

The best "Affordable" way to get rust-free black hardware is to buy stainless hardware and just paint the heads of the bolts. Stick them all through a piece of cardboard and then spray paint them. It might wear off over time, but no rust. You can have a powdercoat shop do this as well, but probably overkill.

Good info! May just order ladder as is and paint. Will be interesting to see how the rack holds up in comparison.

Im pretty sure we've got all the testing complete, but thanks for offering!
We are planning on having the final pricing figured out and having things prepared for a pre-order by the end of the month.

Thanks guys! We are working on pricing right now. Quotes are coming back a bit higher than expected to get the aluminum parts laser cut and formed, mainly because aluminum is so expensive right now. We are hoping to have pricing figured out by the end of the week so we can get these added to the website and get a pre order going!

The SSO roof rack (aluminum) is just about as heavy as a Gobi stealth rack (steel), so the weight difference will be negligible for a ladder.
