Calling all k02 owners 265 vs 275 ?

Dude, a 275 is roughly 1/2" taller.

To be exact: LT275/70R17/E 121 R is 32.2 inches tall while LT265/70R17/C 112 S is 31.6 inches tall. What it means the truck with 275 tire will have 0.3 inches (7.6mm) higher clearance than stock size. It's nothing - you may get better result just by removing one fat passenger :ybrick:

For the look, difference - sorry I don't buy it. :gossip: I checked pictures on the forum from guys showing KO2 with both sizes on their 4R and I have to read description to see which one is on the picture. That extra 0.6 inch does not fill up wheel well to the extend that it will stand out. Some mud on the tire will do better job than the tire size difference.

On the other hand E load tire will ride more stiffer than C, so not only you will loose gas mileage but ride comfort too. I understand that if you rock climb or do real off-road (dirt road is still on-road by my books) than you will not care for the harsh ride, but if you drive your truck as a car, than I don't see any reasons why would you want to have it behave like in a conestoga wagon.:ballchain:

And finally - nobody mentioned it anywhere on the forum (as far as I saw it) if you put bigger tires, the stress on the entire powertrain is bigger. That means the engine, transmission, driveshaft and differential will take higher load than it was originally designed for. It's like driving uphill all the time. It may not be much difference now, but when you hit 300k miles mark the difference will be like :cheers: at home and standing on the road :smow: waiting for a tow truck.

The deal is at 4wheelparts, it was around 180 a tire, they are currently offering an extra 70 dollars off with the purchase of 4. Since they did not have any in stock I contacted a local tire shop that had them available and they price matched. I think it was a good deal.

Does anyone see a change in the speedometer, like your going faster than actual. Is it cause of the size difference?

We bought a LC with 130k miles on it. Brakes were just done by previous owner, but they never recalibrated the e brake, so a couple weeks ago my husband went to use the e brake for the first time and it wouldn't disengage. Toyota was closed, so he took it to Chevy.

He had just taken Cooper to the vet so he was in the back. He is ultra protective of whatever truck he's in, but he is also very obedient. He would never need one of those barriers that keep dogs in the back because he knows he's not allowed up front.

Anyway, the service manager sees Cooper in the back and asked if he would flip out if someone else got in the truck. My husband said, yes, he would. So the service manager brings out a few people to watch what he's about to do.

He gets the tech thats going to bring in the truck. He makes sure he doesn't see Coop and has him get in. He started driving it in and Cooper lost it, barking and snarling, but of course would not go over the back seat. The tech dove out so fast, the poor guy, and his face was white. At least he put it in park first! All the other guys were hysterical. Seems like a pretty good place...they were willing to play practical jokes on each other at 6 PM.

For those trying to decide I have had both and let me tell you go 275 big diff in height also they ride better than the 265s ko2. and especially way better than the 20s did . That's @40 psi so go 275

I was having a hard time deciding between the two, I knew that I had to get rid of those awful duelers that came on the runner. I actually purchased a 2016 Tacoma off road that came with the wrangler all terrain with Kevlar and was planning on putting 285 k02 instead. Saw them on a sport Tacoma and they looked and fit really nice.

So do you have side by side picture of your truck with KO2 265/70/17 and KO2 275/70/17? I'd love to see this "big diff" myself.:hurt: In pictures above the only difference I see is black and white letters, and I guess the black one is 275 only because you posted a picture with white letters before, which I guess was taken when you had 265 installed.

BTW BFG KO2 (either size) looks much better than my dealer installed Bridgestone Duelers uke:

The only thing that counts is how you feel after the change. Judging by all the posts you made, you put a lot of effort into this decision. I hope you are happy with the result. Now get out there a put those tires to good use.

Dont't forget your odometer is 1.7% offset now, so your consumption indicator.

I saw you kept the stock rims. With those, does the 275 rub? I read mixed opinions here about this aspect.

Also trying to decide myself between 265 and 275. You are not along!!!

since the white lettered tires are 265's and is an old pic, why not take a picture from a similar distance and angle so we can all see the difference, posting them side by side. it's a bit hard to compare when the 2 pics are different sizes, angles, distances...just a suggestion. whenever it's time to replace my stock tires, i'll be looking at the ko2's so this will help. thanks.

on the truck the 275s look just a little bit bigger. - my wife even noticed , she said looks way bigger ,she could care less .

On the limited the 275s ride like the 20s. It's just my opinion but on the limited the 265s
were lighter, I mean the truck would get up and go ! Even spin -ha

Little rubbing at full lock yesterday ,on the stock trail wheels . You can feel the heavier tire just a little but it's not even enough for my wife to notice when she drives . Gas is a little worse maybe 1mpg less but is a limited with a Roof basket but it's never been great.- not a hybrid lol . I have some after market wheels on the way to offset the extra 9 lbs difference and take it down to only 3-4lbs heavier than stock 20" so we'll see how that goes .

Also where I believe where you see the difference is how tall the tire is on the truck due to side wall bulge 265s 30.25 inches tall @ 50psi
275s 31.5 inches tall @ 40 psi

Thanks buddy for these pictures. They made this thread the best on the forum regarding KO2 265 vs 275 discussion. Really, I mean that.:bravo:

So the only way I can top it off is to add the third picture showing the stock Dueler on SR5 (not limited) I took this morning. I tried to show the tire at the same angle as your photos. To make the comparison easier I photoshoped the color of my truck (mine is burgundy) so it matches yours. I also photoshoped the color saturation on you pictures so colors and contrast not play a significant role for the comparison.

In my mind there is a slight visible difference in overall look of KO2 275 vs 265 but when I look at details (like the tire fills up the wheel well or the thread shape) they look almost identical. For some that "overall look" may be worth that extra 10 bucks per tire (at 4Wheel) but for me your comment about the weight and rubbing makes it no-no decision. On the other hand any KO2 size will look absolutely better than my stock Dueler. I love Toyota technology and reliability but some guys in the sale department should be fired for their idea of destroying the awesomeness of the truck by putting Bridgestone tires.

The last note, when you compare the gas mileage from 275 tires to 265, you need to increase the value shown by on-board computer by about 2% to compensate for diameter bigger than the on-board computer was calibrated. So if your truck is showing 18.5 it is really 18.85mpg

I went with 265's during the 4wheel sale. Replaced the Limited 20"s. Had to remove the front mud flaps (I bought 4R used, so not sure if they were OEM or ?). They also rub at near full lock on the front plastic inside wheel area (not sure I am going to do anything about it though).
Glad I finally bought something. I took longer than you to decide ;-)

Sorry, thanks for pointing it out. The description was wrong - I just fixed it.
Now I realized the KO2 pictures show front tires and my tire is the rear one - To have compared apples to apples I will have to fix my picture again :doh:
