Calling all V8 owners that want a high flow Y-pipe!!! I can do it. Need your help!

Let us know! I have a V8 with Doug Thorley headers and high flow cats, always could use so more go-go juice! :dancin:

I wouldn’t hold my breath, it’s already been almost a year since the original post. I would’ve bought one last year when I needed to replace the rest of my system, but not sure I’d bother to take it back apart at this point now that it sounds and performs so well. Can’t see that it would make enough difference to be worth the labor, cost, and hassle involved.

apparently DT is making 03-04 and 05-09 long tube headers im assuming to bolt directly onto the DT y-pipe 03-09

i know the 03-04 y-pipe has a pinched y-pipe with one cat while 05-09 has two cats with different routing.

is it possible to make one y-pipe that will fit 03-09?

Sorry if a noob question, I’m in California and need to have catalytic converters would this y pipe work with those headers? So I’m smog legal? I’d get both of that would work.

DT does not do catalytic converters. the y pipe will have a resonator(s) so it will "look" like it has. i read somewhere that someone in cali with an urd y-pipe with resonators passed.

I am in on the V8 crossover Y-pipe as well for my GX470. Is this available yet? I just got off the phone with URD. They offered me $35 off. but $550 plus shipping is still too much.

Thank you for reaching out to us here at Doug Thorley Headers. Currently we have begun our 1st production run and estimate that we should be ready to ship by 3/22. Unfortunately we have to finish the 1st run to know exactly how much time is spent to cost the components correctly but is appears that the Long tube T304 SS Tri-Y headers with O2 extenders will be in the $825ish range. The Y-pipes are expected to be in the $500ish or less range which are also T304 SS with resonators.



We appreciate the interest in fitment verification but we are certain that these new components will work with factory connections. The long tubes and Y-pipe either together or by themselves with be bolt in applications. The Y-pipe will also connect back to either the factory exhaust or any aftermarket system that connects to the factory connection point of the y-pipe. Below are the part numbers and description for your vehicle when they are ready.

i had a feeling the y-pipe was going to cost ~$500. as far as upgrading the factory y-pipe from the crimped y-pipe for 03-05 i can buy aftermarket with a real y-pipe and cat for ~$160. even for that money its still prolly not worth it for an extra 1 ft lb of torque. the only reason i would change an 05-09 y-pipe is apparently for clearance reasons. catalytic converters flow so well while cleaning the air and dont restrict performance whatsoever.

as nice as it would be to have headers, ~$650 without cats plus parts and labor to mount used or new cats i might just get aftermarket pacesetter manifolds with cats for ~$380 that are a direct bolt in.

a complete bolt in DT headers and y-pipe would cost around ~$1300 minimum compared to aftermarket with cats ~$540

That’s what they said about their 3.4L headers... Nope. Just the pipes. Flanges are mild steel.

the v8 headers are SS...i think people actually prefer steel flanges because its easier to weld because a lot of people dont have SS wire to weld with

there will be long tubes for 03-04 THY-564Y-LS-C and 05-09 THY-563Y-LS-C. y-pipe 03-09 89230
