Can I hook up a Sub/Amp to my stock 01 head unit?

Hello All,
I have read this forum many times. I finally have my own question. I have 2001 Runner, I was wondering if I could install an Amp and Sub and hook it up to my stock head unit. I'm not looking for any crazy bass, just wanted alittle extra bump. I just want a 10' sub, so, is this possible? I've read some about line out put converters, would this work? If so how do you wire them? Any help would be great. Again, I'm not looking for any crazy system and i like my original headunit. I really dont want to buy a new head unit just for one sub. Any suggestions? Thanks everyone!

Get a amp with speaker line level inputs and it will work.

you can but the quality wont be nearly as good as if you got even a cheap aftermarket radio.
