Can someone tell me what this is?

I checked the manual and there is no mention. I was routing some wire through the glovebox today, I noticed this thing, an elastic strap permanenly fixed to the upper part of the glovebox. there seems to be a recessed area about the size of the original ipod as if this was to hold it in place.

It's to hold paperwork and stuff. Or, whatever will fit.

I use it to hold my i pod in place, or my insurance info

I've asked the dealership and it was new to the person I asked. She said it could have been for the older iPods and/or paperwork as previously stated.
