Can you fit 285/75/16s on stock suspension?

I want to buy new tire right now before I do my lift but Im not sure if 285/75/16s will fit on stock sh#t! Does anyone know?

no it wont need a 2.5" lift kit

Yes, you'll need a 2.5" lift to clear 285's. Also, depending on the tire, you'll need wheels with different backspacing too. Some A/T style 285's will fit on the stock rims, almost no M/T's will fit. The issue is with the upper a arms. You can buy wheels with 4.5" of backspacing.

I looked at a 265/75/16 and a 285/75/16 side by side and there wasnt too much difference between the two! A little difference but not much so I dont see why they wouldnt fit?

Looks are deceiving and many have tried it (very many) but they rub on the inside of the front tires,I think it's the control arm. Plus you have no room for any play with 285 with stock suspension so you'll be hittign your wheel wells quite frequently.

I have 275/55/r20 and they are super cloase to rubbing the A arms, they don't rub the fenders wells unless I cut it all the way one direction and flex, I couldn't imagine a 285 fitting....

the reply is that 285s will fit with stock rims especially if they fit with 22 inch rims on a vehicle that has less clearance than stock.

But after such...

Overall Diameter of 285/40R22 = 31"
Overall Diameter of 285/75R16 = 32.8" or larger depending on brand, tread, ect..

So the 16 is a bigger tire... BUT 285s Can fit

They don't fit with at least a couple of inches of lift and it's been proven many times. You can cram them under the stock suspension but they will rub and off road they will not work at all with the stock flex. I have the 265/75s on and they have less than an inch of clearance from the A arm and the lip of the fender flare.
