Can't remove bolt for A/C controlls

Hey everyone, I have been surfing the forum for awhile, and I am so thankful to have people like you that are willing to share their knowledge.

I was trying to remove my center dash the other day. After removing the pop-out storage thing below the A/C controls, I tried to remove the screw holding in the A/C controls, but it doesn't back out and just spins. I tried grabbing it with a pair of pliers and pulling while turning, but no go. It there a way to reach the back to see if it is stripped or what the problem may be?

It's not a screw, it's a claw pin. Been so long I don't remember the trick to getting them out. I think you just pull.

Part 1A of removal says "Remove the Screw." That is the screw I'm talking about.
