Car speakers cracking

This might sound a little absurd but my "speaker" is really frustrating me. The other 3 speakers are fine. The front right one will crack when the bass hits, it's not terrible but it bothers the heck out of me. So i try to access it and take a look at the speaker when it's playing and every time I take the door panel off the cracking is completely gone. I always turn it to a song that has a good amount of bass as well. So i put the door panel back on and it's fine just like it was off... then later it will come back, and so it's Deja vu all over again:der:

The previous owner i beileve put in the Boston Accoustics s55 series . I'll probably replace them sometime when i can. The lows in these speakers are not there. I can't decide if I want to get an 8'' subwoofer or just new speakers.

Is there anything in or around the door panel that could be coming into contact with the speaker on full flex? Did you take the speaker out of the door and look behind it? Inspect the speaker... it could be happening once it gets hot from extended use? Have you tried looking at it immediately after the cracking is there? Try to recreate the problem and then immediately take the panel off and look at it.

Your speaker is on its way out, and sounds like it's blown to me.

I have done this multiple times, i look at the speaker immediately after when it starts to crack, i also have looked around the door panel checking for possibilities of the issue but negative. I think you are right on it's getting hot over extended use..

If your speakers are getting hot you'll know it. It'll have a very distinctive smell when they are hot. If you're getting this smell, then your speaker is toast. Once you this happens you're burning up the voice coil on the speaker. If you have your door panel off. You can push the speaker in, and you'll hear a grinding sound. If you hear this, your speaker is blown.

Have you tried swapping the two front speakers and see if the problem follows? It could be coming from the HU or Amp too.

If you have an amplifier you could just swap the Front Left/Front Right RCAs on the amp and see if the problem follows.

If no amp you need to physically swap the speakers from door to door.

If you're going to pull off your door panels to do this. Try pushing in the speaker first and listen for the grinding sound. If you get a grinding sound, there is no need to swap speakers. As I stated above, if you get a grinding sound; your speaker is blown.

Just an FYI the frequency response is highly dependent on the signal the driver is given as well as the appropriate sound deadening you've done to the door panels

Woah i did this just before i read this! Yea i swapped the front right and left speakers and it seems good for now but l it might come back..
