Car wash scratches

Like a moron I went to the car wash and used that brush on my new 4Runner even though I've been told not to use that brush. Any way I can get those annoying scratches out? Thanks

Which brush? Are you talking about that thing they leave raise for cleaning wheels or just the car wash brushes inside?

Repeated automated car washes are extremely hard on your paint. Many of them recycle their water so all you're really doing is rinsing your car with dirty water. The brushes are never cleaned...imagine using a dirty sponge that never gets rinsed out when washing your dishes. It also scratches your paint.

The only way to get rid of scratches or hide them is by polishing. The only way to truly correct them is by compounding. Invest in a porter cable polisher so you don't have to hand polish/compound. It's a great tool and also extremely difficult to damage your paint any further.

Yes,never use the hand brush at the car wash (I'm assuming he isn't meaning an automated version) as they are rough from repeated uses and they usually have residual dirt stuck in the bristles.

I use automated from time to time in the winter but they are always the touchless variety for a quick wash but even through the winter I wait for the warmer days and do it by hand.

Try bringing a bucket and hand washing it next time, that's what I do to great effect. To get them out you could try either Swirl-X or Scratch-X depending on the severity of the damage. But a PC or 110 with some 105/205 would be fastest.

I got really bad swirl marks on my truck just using a microfiber mitt and bucket. The paint/ clear coat on these trucks is super soft.
