Cat to exhaust bolts- thru or weld nut?

Trying to get the exhaust system downstream of the cat off and the bolts aren't budging. They also appear to be an odd size (too small for 14mm, too big for 13!) Are these thru bolts that I can just cut the heads off or is there a weld nut/threaded flange I have to worry about?

Try standard sizes. Or a pair of vice grips. I would use standard 1/2" or 9/16" to see if those come a little closer.
I've never tried to remove the cat system from my truck so I don't know about if its welded or not.

Just to clarify, I'm removing everything EXCEPT the cat and manifold. I'm installing a Cat back exhaust. Well, I am after I get the old one off!

I cut the bolts/nuts (which ever I could reach) with my sawsall because mine were completely rusted together.

Have a couple of metal cutting blades on hand. It took a few minutes but they cut.

There are just holes in the flange.

Mine broke apart there recently. No tricks/threaded flange, and the bolts size were normal metric, but I don't remember what the size was. You WILL need a new gasket. FPG 61138 from NAPA works on the Cali two-cat system on newer trucks, not sure about the one-cat on older/49-state trucks.

At 16 years and 310k kms there's a very good chance whatever is on there is not stock! Now that I know I can cut them it's a moot point!

Yeah. Personally I would take a grinder or sawzall to the bolts and get entirely new ones.

I can assure you mine were stock! I am original owner and only wrench to touch this truck, with only minor exceptions. But I do have a slightly different exhaust, as with 16 years, you have the one-cat system and I have the two-cat.
