Yeah.. my bad... was an adio3x question.. yours is roof mounted. I held up a tape measure real quick this morning.... it might work out with a 2ft, but it's going to be close.

Basically, I ran it down the passenger side and then over to the center console from the passenger side threshold.
Won't be here on time for the weekend, but I ordered the extension cord for the handset so I can use my original access point. also ordered a 2ft Firestik. still not sure if it will fit while allowing me to pull into the garage, but at $20 it's not the biggest investment.

almost forgot to mention that you should tune the antenna before you go and button everything back up. the SWR meter needs to attach inline between your radio and the antenna cable, so that means it'll have to connect (temporarily) under the dash.
you'll probably also want to tune both antennas, if you plan on switching them back and forth.

Yup.. I have a SWR and Field meter sitting pretty. The meter came with 3 ft of cable so inserting it between the antenna (coax line) and the control box should be a breeze. But thanks for the reminder
Well.... Tonight sucked,
The set screws on the mount were to long and made contact with the body. And I launched 2 into oblivion when I tried to grind them down. Then I attached the bnc connectors only to find out they are the wrong kind.
So tomorrow I'm ordering more connectors and buying new set screws. Nights like this piss me frikkity frak off.

Spent some time on the phone with RF Parts and got the correct mini UHF connectors in the mail now. They should get to me before the weekend so hopefully this project will still get wrapped up before the weekend is over. I'll add the part numbers and cost in the first post once I get them in and confirmed as being the correct parts.
On the plus side; I did learn how to build 4 part crimp on connectors now.:cheers:

Hey... at least it's not dildo shaped! hahahahahahaha. My main issue at the moment is being rushed through this because I've got 3 jobs at the moment. I thought I had stuff well enough researched and planned.. but this thread pretty well shows the brainstorming was great.. the requirements validation not so much.
The final write up should be pretty comprehensive on what to get.. what not to get and what to keep in mind as far as options....

- I'm showing the issues for the greater good of the forum.
- Don't ever let a business professional do an engineers job.

Validated for their specific implementation, and not always published to knowledge share repositories in comprehensive lessons learned and BOM's. I suggest a task force to research and document the short comings and publish a recommendation on compensatory processes and check gates. :fro:

Alrighty... Control box extention cable came in today. I was expecting a coiled one, but was pleasantly surprised to see it is a regular cable. I also received the correct mini uhf connectors from RF Parts (a day earlier than expected) so I'm all set to finish the install this weekend!

Wife didnt think it was funny when I called her from the nurses charge station in the ER and she didnt understand why I was calling from a phone within the hospital where she works! LOL

Did a CB install this weekend with Reata and everything went in perfectly! We mounted the control box in front of the 4wd shifter and ran the handset wire down through the side of the center console. I have ambitions to eventually mount the handset socket somewhere on the center console though. So my question is...
How did you guys do mount your plug without it shifting around?
Also, the reception/broadcasting on the CB isn't very good. Usually I can only hear someone else if they are within maybe 50 yards of me. Most of the time it comes in as static. So here is my second set of questions...
Do I need to run a separate grounding cable from my Diamond K400?
Would tuning the antenna's SWR affect the ability to broadcast/receive? Because I haven't ordered an SWR meter yet.
Once I get back to home and I get this thing working, I'll make a separate thread with a writeup. Got lots of pictures

You can ground the mount by trimming the edges of the metal plate that came with it and having the set screw make contact with the lift-gate (per the instructions). You will need to tune your antenna, so that's where the SWR meter comes in. Your other grounding item is the control box. Where did you ground that?
I'm curious how you guys ran the wire from the center console to the door sill. Pics?
