Forward firing speaker makes a world of difference.

i have the same CB, and been using it ever sense i got my rig. i mounted it down below where habanero mounted her acc gauges... that way i was able to keep that cubby. i had to pull the center dash and cut out the pocket in there to accept the CB, but it sits in there down out of the way and works great for me, although i do kinda like the cleaner flush look of it in the din right below the stereo... i honestly dont use that cubby all that much, stuff falls out of it too much. i might look into getting a new center dash and doing what habanero did with the guages, cause id like to have a volt meter and oil pressure gauge...

As an improvement on what I'd done- I wish I'd gotten the gauges that light through the face, rather than behind it, if that makes sense. Because of the angle I had to paint the glass where the gap showed the light under the gauge face. It worked, but the other style would have been nicer.

The Cobra 19 DXIV is sized just right for the ashtray mount and has a down firing speaker. The void under the ashtray creates a megaphone effect. Sounds great. Looks great.

What did you use for a bracket I'm trying to install a cobra 29 in my 2nd gen

Got a full size radio and meter to fit under the radio. Had to move some stuff but looks like it belongs there. Excuse the tie wraps holding the meter on. That was just temporary till I mounted it in the opening.
