I did my searchin'. I had some luck in non-toyota forums.

Does anyone have pics of a sterreo and a cb or scanner mounted together in the double DIN slot (one on top of the other)?

I've seen it in Fords and LRs. Just wondering if it can be done on our 4rs.

I dont see how there is enough room below my head unit to install a CB.

I put mine in the little cubby in the front of the consol. It is pretty much out os sight and still easily accessable for me.
 
Awww, it's cute! I was thinking the single din head unit with CB below as well. I know everyone runs double din's so I'm curious if anyone's tried it.

Have you read into that? I had a 75 and looked into it but everything I read said it was just gonna overheat because the case is too small and you don't gain much power by modding it.

edit- that bearcat does look cool! I think I'm gonna go with a cobra 29 when I get another though.

I'm going to try boosting the modulation when I get my cb in the mail... It was supposed to be here two days ago, and it's been in New Jersey since the 24th. Wtf?

I'm also gunna widen the vents with my dremel so that I can hopefully reduce the risk of overheating. Maybe I could also hang the mount on my AC vent!? That'd be like a case fan! I want to check the logistics of that!

Got my Cobra 75 WX ST today! I'm impressed with the stock performance thus far, but the second I got home, I took it apart and tweaked the modulation. Right now I'm trying the modulation at 1/4 turn counterclockwise from the original position.

There is a concern of overheating the handset when you boost the modulation, so I decided to widen the vents with an exacto knife.

I'm happy with the results! I'll see if the tweak of the modulation does anything when I test it tomorrow and I'll report back my findings!

Nicely done! I may have to try this. Hopefully the previous owner didn't do it also or Else the modulation may get too high! Did you stick with the quarter turn?

Yea for now I stuck with just a quarter turn. I would strongly suggest you widen the rear vents. I noticed it got warm rather quickly. (Not in danger of overheating though I don't think).

I want to buy an RM Italy mobile amplifier from copper.com to get 35-70 watts of send and receive power out of my radio. I live in a state forest, reception is slightly compromised, to say the least lol.

I feel like no one ever hears me when I ask for a radio check unless I'm on the highway SOMETIMES. I have a small range because my swr is averaging around 2.5:1 to 2.8:1, even when I adjust the tuning screw. Could be better, could be worse. I'm happy it works relatively well in any event!
 
I may hold off on it for now as I'm worried that running it for a longer time would lead to overheating, especially since you mentioned it heats up quickly. My unit can already get pretty hot sometimes when it's been on for a bit.

Why change the modulation if you're going to add an amp? I'm going to go look into those a little more now.

Exactly! When I get my amp, I'm going to set the modulation back to stock. I'm still diggin the widened cooling vents. It makes worlds of difference!
 
yea I might widen the vents without doing the modulation change and wait to hear about mobile amps :) looks like a good option and the ones you linked to are priced well! 40 bucks for the 35-70 watt amp! My T4r is in the shop getting the actuator replaced under warranty and they gave me sequoia so I dont have access to mess with my cb :(
